Hi N5, welcome to our board!

Perhaps you'd like to start off by telling us a little about yourself and your interests - we're always interested to hear what brings new members to us.

Hope you enjoy your stay,

Ron

It is Highbury, and shows a spectacular failure of imagination in selecting a username.  Thanks both for the welcome.  I am a keen (if generally ill informed) listener to many and varied types of music so for the most part will be happy to watch and learn.

Welcome to the forum, N5. My first thought was "spook?"

I'm sure you aren't all that ill-informed, and even if your knowledge of matters musical is lacking in some areas, the forum is a wonderful place to get filled in. If you see what I mean. Perhaps I should rinse my mind out with soap. Or start using mental floss again...

A warm welcome, N5.   Distant memories for me of Highbury & Islington, the Holloway Road (no liaison with Joe Orton  Grin  but in the same era) and I laughed when I read about the Kafkaesque, Archway Road, on another thread yesterday.    Enjoy your stay.

Slightly belated welcome from me, N5. I hope you enjoy your travels here with the rich and varied cast.

Is that great cheese shop still in Highbury? Smiley

I think it's called La Fromagerie (who'd have thought it? Grin) It was/is a great shop. Seem to recall Nige raving about it a few years ago.

Patricia Michaelson at La Fromagerie.  We used to go there a lot, until decided we needed to cut down our cholesterol.  Nice stuff there as well as cheese as well.  Iznik, the Turkish restaurant opposite is much nicer than anything in Istanbul.

The only time I have seen a performance of Handel's Athalia was by Highbury Choral Society in Christ Church Highbury opposite.  It was semi-staged in so far as the singers were dressed from some dressing-up box.  Athalia herself wore heavy blue mascara.

Edit.  Welcome N5.  Hope you enjoy it and are not put off by our compulsion for in-jokes and references.  I find it a lot of fun.  Here is N5 en actualite last Sunday

thank you all.  And I can confirm the continuing availability of retail cheesiness in Highbury Village.  With Le Fromagerie and the Italian delicatessen it is a cholesterol danger zone.

The Italian delicatessen sold me risotto rice with weevils in it, and them refused to replace it.  That was years ago and I've never been there since.  Perhaps they are nicer now.

Welcome from me too, N5.  You will discover that cheese is taken somewhat seriously around here!
