Hello from DJP-PIM,
I hope that this mesage board is successful because I like to read other peoples perspective on music matters even when I do not agree with a lot of what is said. I enjoy radio 3 because we tend to get complete performances. I will miss some of the programs recently axed beause they introduced me to music that I would not normally have access to for example Jazz show tunes and religous music:

Hi there. I'm Martin, a musician working mostly in contemporary music, composed and improvised. Recently had my album featured on Mixing It, my favourite show since it started, therfore a very proud moment. My record collection is full of discoveries made through Robert, Mark, Felix, Phil, et al. Radio 3 in general is also a big part of my life. As Bobby Previte says "Beauty is everywhere".
I've been reading the R3 mbs for a while but I've been spurred into registering here by MIs demise. I was very sad last night.

Hello! I've just been told about this new board - what a brilliant idea Michael.  Grin Thank you. I'm not a regular R3 messageboard poster but I visit every now and again and I'm very cross at the BBC's ruthless decision. Looking forward to posting here again sometime but I have recently decided to give MJ a holiday from messageboards as I was becoming rather addicted...

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Hi Martin - been a long time, good to see you hear.

(remember the sonic mnemonics for 'bass clarinet', 'synthesiser' and 'piano'? Wink )

Thanks Bryn and Ian. What with parenthood stopping me showing up at so many events in recent times, unless I've been playing,  it will be good to re-establish some contacts. All the best.

Hi
My name is John Ferngrove.  I'm another refugee from the official Radio 3 board.  I finally got around to registering on the Radio 3 board a couple of weeks back, specifically to connect with the New Music fraternity, only to find that the thing was to be shut down imminently.  So I've defected over here and hope that this site will build up momentum.  (It's looking quite promising given the volume of posts that have accumulated)

I'm interested in any music that was playing with the boundaries at the time of its creation.  I could wax all mystical about the divinity of human creativity, but that might be embarrasing.  Anyway, I'm here for the New Music but I'll probably look into the other areas by and by.

Welcome fengrove,
I understand little of what is going on and hope that Contemporary music will have a board of their own there.

I myself some times struggle with new music, but I am learning.

We should hide in a dark room and then come out and surprise him.
