I have met both A and Baziron on both the meetings and will definitely confirm they are not one and the same! Not only do they both have different, er, assets, but also both have different styles of photography as well! Also, I think A has nothing to apologize for and no-one has done anything wrong. Seems like one of those characteristic cases where, on all sides, people have been taking online communications a mite too seriously. This is not reality. If all these comments had been made between the people concerned in real-life, there would have been no problem at all.

I think that whoever created the character Strangeways yesterday evening in order to make fun of trained-pianist does need to apologize.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with saying "erm" if you don't understand what someone is saying and we don't have to be extra deferential to someone just because her first language is not English. What has been overlooked in all this though, I think, is that tp's messages were about the hard time she was having at work with her colleagues. That is why I think the majority were rushing to her defence.

I am not sure how much fun is left in a board that sides with one person so completely over a problem. It used to be fun. But thanks to those people who have contacted me privately and agreed with my point of view. Unfortunately no-one has said anything publically, but never mind.
In that case I will. I find it strange that, while discussions on this board are often characterised by a certain cut-and-thrust quality which often edges over the border towards acrimony, after which usually calm is restored without the perceived need for public apologies or public shows of support etc., this generally self-regulating situation pertains in everyone's case except, it seems, that of trained-pianist. And it was hardly as if she had been rounded on in the way that others sometimes are. As I said in my previous post on the subject, it's not the broken English that's the problem. I don't think A has anything to apologise for, in fact I think there are a few people around who should apologise to A for being so one-sided in their responses. I certainly think it's shameful if A has been threatened with suspension over this.

When one subtracts from life infancy (which is vegetation), sleep, eating and swilling, buttoning and unbuttoning - how much remains of downright existence? The summer of a dormouse.

Therefore, one should spend more time reading and listening to radio 3 ?

We also have a problem in that it is thought that Baz and I are the same person. Could anyone who has met both of us on those evenings out please say... on the board... that we are 2 different people using the same internet address . Baz is being blamed for my behaviour too.

To be exact, Baz is also being threatened with termination. Well, as the opening words of The Lion King stated, "Life's not fair". (It might as well be repeated on the "Grumpy" thread as anywhere else.)

Well said Richard.

For me, the lie of the land is this:

t-p, you spell funny, but that's fine - the gist of your meaning nearly always comes through, and you have some really good viewpoints we would be worse off without.  Occasionally, your spelling gets in the way of what you want to say, and the rest of us need to ask what you mean.  I guess you are a bit self-conscious when this happens, and feel you have to make loads of apologies for your spelling.  As far as I am concerned, you don't.  Just "Sorry, I meant......" will do.

Neither of you should be "terminated". If tea does not do the job, then it's lime infusions all round, say I. Of course you are two different people. Blimey, I hope yet another alternative set of boards don't have to be set up due to immoderation.

It appears that I have to apologise for my behaviour. This includes saying 'erm' to t-p instead of ' please could you tell me what it is you mean?' (I still haven't been told by the way)

A,

I did not ask you to apologise for saying erm....? to t-p. I suggested you ask t-p a polite question to explain her posting.

Quote
I also have to apologise for using similar phrases to t-p.

The use of the Strangeways login and the postings were a form of impersonation, and a clear attempt to intimidate another poster (t-p).

Quote
I have to apologise or I will be suspended.. so, I apologise.

Thank you.

Quote
So , sorry t-p it must be so hard to send all those thousands of messages when it must take so long to work out the English phrasing. I hadn't realised how much terrible anguish I had given you.

Thank you.

To A and all on the forum.

It seems that the recent postings by member Strangeways were posted by A.

Baziron was also threatened with suspension because his member name was used in exchanges with Strangeways, either Baziron was knowingly part of the intimidation or A was also posting using Baz's login. Which was it A?

If Baziron is blameless in all this then I do not want to suspend the IP address which A and Baz share, so therefore I requested the apology and did not suspend A.

I should add that Michael has not responded to a PM on this issue, a final decision will be made once Michael responds.

John W

If , as you ask , I am to explain all on line, so be it.

You did reprimand me for my use of erm... a natural word in MY vocabulary.

I did use Strangeways last night ( I think 7 postings only)as I was so fed up with not being able to say anything with any fun in. I never intended it to last more than an evening anyway. I merely pretended not to be a musician... is that a crime?

Baziron had no idea about any of this, he just saw a fun post and joined in the fun... he has NOTHING to do with this as I have said before.
I could not possibly write such intelligent, intelectual postings as him , I would have thought that fairly obvious.
We do not sit side by side and giggle with each other. I am my own person .

I have apologised but honestly - what a storm in a tea cup. Are we not allowed to comment on each other's style or poke fun at each other anymore?... people do it to me and lots of others without all this fuss.

I shall remain what I am, a stict retired grammar school teacher from now on.

Dear Members of the Board, Lady (or is it Ladies?) and Gentlemen,

Can we please move on from this particular episod.

On my part, I am not the easiest person to get alone.
1. I have bad nerves and overreact
2. I am perplexed and confused with many issues and need help (this is why I am on the board)
3. I admire all of you. You have such a class and good breeding.
4. I admire A very much. She has so much humour in her posts, I am so sorry she doesn't like me
(I think everybody should like me, another idiotic idea)
5. I admire everybody, but if I restrict myself to ladies, I like them all. I ammire Mary Chamber for her poise and good balanced approach. I could benefit from this and I dearly love to have some small portion of that, and I love Morticiaa, and I love Kitty. In short I love everybody.

Please forgive me again, but you are good teachers (as a group and individually).

I have to come on this board some times to read messages because it is very helpful professionally to read and ask questions. I have many unanswered questions from days of my training and I am very isolated here with regard to contacts with musicians (pianists in particularly).
Also I find myself in an strange situation for myself with regard to relations in town. I was never on any Board of anything. I was private piano teacher struggling to teach in difficult situations usually and difficult students too.

It is all my fault I am afraid. So A and others (Baziron perhaps, I don't know who else? Kitty? Morticia?).
Lets all forget it. We are all friends here and we are trying to help each other. Ocasionally there are misunderstandings. Don't take it all so seriously. Everything is all right really.
I am very sorry that I am the cause of so much discussion. Please, please, please, if it is all possible forget it.

I will try to shape up. If I do something wrong please remind me. I am very far from being an angel (though I think in mind that I am often, but it always turns out that I am not).

Even after reading John W post I still can tell you all honestly, that I understand A and all of you. I know how foreigners sound in my own language and I understand that I can be very irritating as a person.
Please A and others, don't let this episod spoil anything. But it was a good lesson for me (may be for others as well).
As I said before, I am used to it after 30 + life in "the West" and I understand. Please A and others come here and don't let this episod spoil good time.

I liked Richard's suggestion that I should post less. I will restrict myself to professional matters (if you don't mind)
I am very ashamed of myself really. Lets not start it all again.

There is a Russian saying: Who every will remember the past will lose (is it right?) his/her eye. This is an awful proverb. I have to run and can not check my spelling. My student (67 years old) will be here any minut.

"A" cannot post with Baziron's login - she doesn't know the password! With regard to the exchanges between Baziron and "Strangeways", Baziron's first response (Piano thread) was a genuine one to whom he thought was a new member. It soon became clear to him that the member was not new. That is why all further messages from Baziron to "Strangeways" (both on the Piano and Circular Breathing threads) were completely tongue-in-cheek.

I have never had any wish to be involved in impersonations - I often find it difficult enough to keep my own face straight as it is.

OK,

Thanks t-p, A and Baziron.

If you 3 are happy to continue then that's fine.

Just remember the rules in future  Smiley
