A little late, but here's my 2 pence on the events:
I've been looking at the events and it is clearly unacceptable to create another account for any purpose when the previous account is still functional. And if it isn't then an E-Mail to the admin team will resolve that.
In this circumstance that was not the case, but the account was created to mock a user of this board. Denial of this is irrelevant, as even if this wasn't the purpose, it was the result.
As far as the two users using the same IP, there is no issue in my eyes regarding this, but clearly John W is within his rights to be suspicious when 3 people are logged as using the same IP address, especially when one of those is clearly an account that is being used to break the board rules.
As it stands there will be no action. With everyone working past it, TP not harboring any bad blood and basically putting it down to water under the brigde.
I fully support John in his actions. Although these little things blow up from no-where, it would be good to remember that when someone creates an account clearly to mock when they already have an active account, that allowing this the board could and would descend into chaos.
There is a fine line between letting the users of this board get on with things and stopping events like those of the past day or so. In my opinion, leaving things like this would only create a place where some users would feel alienated and fear posting.
Blimey, I hope yet another alternative set of boards don't have to be set up due to immoderation.
I'm afriad to say that comments like that are not helpful. Please try and remember the events that led to the actions being taken. If a 'fake' accound weren't set up and used to mock, then none of this would have happened. Fault of the moderators? No.
I'm glad it is all worked through now, but I thought it important I put my opinion on it.
