A combination of earthquake and deafness?

I'm sorry, but I can't resist asking if that would be the result of really good aural sex.........

You could perhaps have tried a little harder to resist all the same...  Cheesy

Sorry.  Should have gone for orgasmic aural experience or nothing at all.

Anyway, my rant is that my morning meeting dragged on so much I couldn't get to the cadoggan hall for 1.00 (or indeed 2.00 or 2.30).

What happened?

What happened is that you tempted fate with that bacon buttie, Tommo. Wink

Can anyone explain why when I try to look at Youtube videos at the moment they are all jerky and with no sound?

A combination of earthquake and deafness?

You're not very sympathetic, you lot. Youtube isn't working, and I want to watch the Britten/Pears videos (again), and I can't. This is serious! Has Google Earth messed everything up, as some people say it does?

I don't know much about these things I'm afraid. Maybe someone will come along soon who does. I would be surprised if it were Google Earth's fault if the program isn't actually running. It shouldn't be difficult to uninstall it to check, though...

Are your speakers producing any other sounds at the moment Mary?

I seem to recall Ian mentioning a similar problem with YouTube a while ago. Someone suggested it wasn't loading properly but don't know if that is a problem at your problem or theirs.

Mary - I've just tried the Dudley Moore "Little Miss Britten" and the Britten/Peras Schone Mullerin.  Both are fine.

either

the clippet you want is dodgy - let us knwo what it is and I'll try it out for you.

or

your computer is a bit clunky.  Try closing down or stopping other applications you might ave open (e.g. pausing a virus checker working in the background).  That works with mine

Mary, as Tommo says, it's almost certainly that your computer is too hot and bothered trying to maintain other programmes etc. a restart should do the trick. Also, in terms of volume, check your external speakers (if you have them) are turned on, and/or the youtube volume setting isn't at zero...

don't know if that is a problem at your problem or theirs.

Or that your problem is a problem at their problem or yours, given that a problem shared at theirs is a problem halved at yours, if indeed your problem isn't their problem halved in the first place.

Problem? What problem?  Cheesy

Thank you! It did need to be closed down, and I should have thought of that myself. I have a superstitious belief that unplugging it and plugging in again solves most things, but for some reason (panic?) it didn't occur to me this time. Anyway, it's working again now - it was Schone Mullerin I wanted. Pity about BB's very wrong note in Mein Smiley

So thank you very much!

Mary, I have a similar, and often recurrent problem with the wi-fi network in my house here: the connection seems simply to dry up, and quite often the network icon goes blank or disappears entirely. Almost always this is solved by going to another room, crawling under a table and switching off, and then on again, the mains power supply to the network box (well, it's exercise!). Computers just get a bit overloaded with tasks sometimes. Like people, really.  Wink

I have that problem with my router; it's just developed over the last couple of weeks: the usual flickering green display is reduced to a couple of orange lights until I unplug and start again. It's very irritating cos it's upstairs and I usually use the laptop downstairs...

Solution - a bungalow! Every problem (even a problem problem) has a solution!
