My last cat would bring mice in just to play with them and used to get really annoyed when I caught them and put them outside. The previous cat used to bring them in to eat, but sneakily, until I heard the crunching behind the sofa. But how clever they are to eat them but carefully leave the gall bladder so as you step on it I could do with borrowing a cat as the Annual Invasion of Chez Antheil by the Warrior Field Mice has started.

I discovered that Levi loved fresh chopped shrimps and fresh cream mixed with his milk. I gave him lots of treats and whenever he sees me now he makes a beeline for me and purrs more loudly than I've ever heard a cat purr before. He dashes up to my car when I arrive and the family are quite bemused. I daren't tell them why because I'll end up with him as well as Cuddly Dudley if I'm not careful. Jumping catfish, Milly ! I`m not surprised that Levi is enamoured of you! Fresh shrimp and cream? That cat is no fool. Then again, none of them are

(Blimey! 258 pages of grump so far!) Anyway. I've been working at home today, mostly. But they are digging up and renovating the drains and main water pipes in the road immediately outside my house. And, fair enough, it has to be done - the waterworks hereabouts are ancient. About time too, etc. BUT, they start at 7am. They shout at each other for no obvious reason. They faff around rather than dig (HUGE chunks of time when the whole operation is unmanned); and the heavy machinery they are using makes the whole house shake as if there was an eathquake! How can I be expected to get me quavers straight??

Do they also do that thing of going full bore from 7am and then stopping the loud stuff at 9.30 when your nerves are too frazzled to get to sleep again? I had a few months of that what with demolitions and rebuildings and relayings of paving stones. On the upside I did learn how to sleep with earplugs in.

No, not the gulls on their hard hats, I mean the, oh never mind. Seriously, 7 a.m. sounds a bit damn early, Mart. Is that legal? I have a feeling, albeit vague and possibly a bit dusty, that workmen aren`t supposed to start until 8 a.m. Not that that would help your vibration problems. However, it is a tradition that workmen can never converse with eachother at anything below AN EXTREMELY LOUD AND RAUCOUS SHOUT !!!
Innit?

It is amazing how many things intrude into our lives. The only thing to do in this situation is to leave the house. However, how strange it is that after a while these things are not important. Things calm down and our disappointments are forgotten. May be tomorrow they will finish their work and things will get back to normal. Things will go back to be more peaceful and even more inspiration will come.

I wish they would finish tomorrow, t-p. But this is going to go on for another three weeks! But you're right - I will leave the house and work at university.

t-p,
That's a fine thought, beautifully put: your English has come a long way over the past year, if I may say so.
Sleep tight,
Ron

Thank you for kind words. I notice that some times what comes into our lives looks like coincidence. However, most things are there to teach us something. Some people go so far as to say that if you call and the phone is busy it is not a coincidence. Yet other people say that if we feel angry (frustrated) we are out of balance with nature. Things are perfect as they are. And everything in the world is good and for good. Also we are all connected. I heard people say that Adam's soul was broken into 650 thousand parts and all humanity in reality is one soul. So we should not ask for one self, but for all. But this belongs to religious thread, sorry.
My best wishes to you all. I know that today a lot of good things will be accomplished

t-p,
You have become the sage of the board. It seems as if you have learnt to put aside your one problems and worries and find positive things to say to encourage us all. Long may it continue, and may your whole day through bring you unsought happinesses,
Ron

I admire your positive outlook on life, t-p, but I could not agree with the above. My best wishes to you all. I know that today a lot of good things will be accomplished
Thank you! Hmm what did I accomplish today? I did manage to get the entire class working together in 3s and 4s making anti-bullying posters - and have to admit it amused me a bit that one or two of the more domineering characters were bullying the others in their groups... Hope you're finding the time and energy to play the piano for pleasure. Oh dear, this is the Grumpy room and I'm not being at all grumpy!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Hi MabelJane, May be from your point of view you were struggling through the day, and may be you think you did not achieve much, but you never know. You did a lot of good yesterday without knowing.
