Ron, just a thought.

Though please read it as it was originally intended, not as hinting as some hidden agenda.

Bryn,

I hope I can take that behaviour into my life and work. You know what I mean. Thanks for that, Bryn,

Bryn,  I will probably bid you, and the other Boardees, a good night, sweet dreams and let us hope we will be more harmonious here tomorrow.

PS  that is such an old joke - shame on you ;-)

I've read all this with increasing astonishment. I really didn't know that (presumably) grown adults behaved like this - but then, as I've said before, I've probably led a sheltered life.

Meanwhile, I slept VERY badly and am therefore grumpy this morning. Mysterious thing, insomnia. Why do some people suffer from it and others not? Is it an inability to switch off the mind, or what?

Mary, I'm sorry to hear of your insomnia: it is certainly true that as we get older we need less sleep, though it varies from person to person. Sadly there are no fixed remedies or solutions: what works well for one person does nothing for another. I am aware that after days where there's been a good deal of physical activity I sleep much better than on those where it's been more of a mental effort, though I rarely have a bad night.

I will admit, however, that last night was my worst in years, for reasons very possibly not completely unconnected with my having to spend the greater part of the day dealing with the circumstances mentioned in the first part of your post.

Jonathan,
That's a real pain, just when you're likeliest to need it, too. If my experience of wage departments is anything to go by, not only is the left hand ignorant of what the right may be doing, but even adjacent digits on the same mitt are unaware of the other's activities. (Which doesn't prevent them from shifting the blame, of course.)  Undecided

No, I'm sorting out audio cables in a room around the corner from you.

Yes but the timps have indeed stopped now so as far as I'm concerned the Finger of Suspicion has Yet To Be Lifted.

Brings to mind that change of tuning before letter K in the Bruch symphony.
