I have it! I'm going to have to clear out my study! I can't find anything so I'm going to have to clear out another room so that I can sort out all of my crap there. Oh what a relief to remember my grumble.

hh,
You're lucky with my Mac. The Finder (why do they call it that?) had totally gone and no amount of force quitting or relaunching could do anything. All I could do was switch it off at the mains. The Quark works all right until I try to save the photos. It seems very buggy.
Well I think that you're probably unlucky with your Mac rather than me being lucky. I've not heard of many problems with Macs (except for some ridiculous compatibility problems that really come down to software and not to hardware). I assume that the Mac 'Finder' is what inspired Mr Gates to name the core part of Windows 'Explorer'. Speaking of software, it sounds like Quark XPress is the one at fault here. Or you could have some corruption or sommat.

Grrrr. Growl. Why am I grumpy? Perhaps I should be in bed rather than writing dynamics into this score...

Yes, hh, go to bed now and get up a little earlier to do some more if you need to: don't forget your body clock won't have caught up with the change to Summer Time yet.....

HH,
Plenty of grumpy things happened to me today (many thanks to me leaving my brain on the pillow this morning), but the sunshine more than made up for it. Maybe let system shut down now, and be awake more during daylight hours.
And maybe force your students to do the same (if you really want to take your grump out on anyone.....)

Students on holiday. Still up because girlfriend rang. Feel a lot better now even though she feels a bit minging because, well, let's just say that it has something to do with the moon. Going to check on my newly baked loaf (is it cool enough to go in a bag?) and then I'll go to bed. Might pick out something to listen to before dropping off though...

Has no-one got a good grump or rant today? were the trains not late or early Baz? A I blame the whole damned thing on Argos! It took over 10 minutes (TEN MINUTES) to process a simple order this morning! The reason given was this: "The system is down". Well great! Now why is it that I can chat happily and informally here, but Argos cannot "chat" over "business things" at their end - thereby keeping their paying customers waiting. Total disgrace! Baz PS Was that OK A?

One doesn't have this problem in Harrods Baz !! A You are the expert there I trust, A? I only hope that when you buy things at H's you not only remember your own chin-n-pin number, but also THEIRS! I doubt you would get them "online" without both. Baz P.S. And another thing - according to Sir Humphrey Appleby, Harrods only sell nuclear missiles. I assume you do not have "more sinister" things in mind?

I've been trying to sort out why my Mac keeps crashing and I've concluded that it's the photo editing facilities, which come with Quark version 6.5 and which are buggy and the fact that my machine doesn't like USB 2 memory sticks, though it's happy with version 1. I can work round that so I suppose this ought to be in the happy room.
