People in my building decided to play music until around 2 this morning (or possibly later). Every now and then (about every half an hour) there was this thunderous knocking though I've no idea if it was on a door, a wall or a floor. I tried putting ear plugs in but (and this is unusual) they made me feel sick. Finally I also discovered that I was too hot and my pulse was racing, so lost the blanket that I put on the bed a few days ago (it has been cold at night recently) and took my top off and suddenly dropped off.

Given the way that some of my fellow tenement dwellers have been behaving lately (charging down the stairwell shouting at each other up to midnight), I suspect they might be students and I suspect I should move as fast as I can!

Anyway.  Just looked it up on the tinterweb and it's one of these:

...which is allegedly a masked assassin bug ("and the award for most melodramatic insect common name goes to...").  And they bite!  Shocked Shocked

The excitement of finding that out has for some reason cheered me up immensely.  Huh  Cheesy

I don't think I'd like to find a masked assassin in my loo.

No, it wasn't the most pleasant surprise at the time.

At least I found out that my shower curtain rail will hold my weight.

It may amuse people to know that I now have an appt with my asthma nurse( not important really!!) but I did challenge , to the receptionist's face the fact that I haven't been able to get through for about 3 days and my answer machine message hadn't been acknowledged... the answer was.............

' We can't answer the phone because we are busy', 'We don't ever listen to answer machine messages because we are busy'

I said .. 'So we can't contact you at all then ?' the answer was a sort of wry smirk.... just don't get ill was the submerged message there then !!!!

Interesting - if it weren't so scary  Shocked

Sounds a bit like my friend's experience of the diabetes nurse, A. Scary, as you say.

Thank goodness you were finally able to make an appointment. Once again I am reminded of the story of how my father nearly died because the receptionists at the local surgery were too busy to take my Mum's pleas seriously.
He had been diagnosed with type-2 (insulin dependent) diabetes a few days earlier, and on the Saturday morning, Mum couldn't wake him.
To this day, I thank God that my sis-in-law (who can be a bit of a harridan but is at least a midwife) stopped by on her way to take the family shopping.
She made a quick examination, immediately called the ambulance and then gave the receptionist at the local Health Centre very hot ears.
When they got Dad to the hospital the doctor in charge said there wasn't time to run definitive diagnostic tests, they would just have to go ahead and start treatment and hope they were right, so the rest of the day was spent in the most terrible anxiety for all of us. My bro. and Mum were at the hospital while I stayed home waiting for news.
Thankfully Dad made a good recovery and lived to see the first few years of his Grandson as well, but his GP visited him in hospital to offer his formal apology that the practice had bungled so badly.

Gawd! And a few weeks ago I was moaning that my neighbour's washing could be seen from the kitchen window.  Embarrassed
When my wife and I stayed over-night in a four-star Cardiff hotel after seeing "Otello" we were kept awake for hours by shouting and screaming---from the hotel staff. It was almost as if they were nurses on night-shift!
Cardiff is an attractive city but its citizens are the most rude and unhelpful people I have ever come across. I admit I've only visited the city three times but it was the same on all three occasions. Was I  just very unlucky or is the Welsh capital a place to avoid?

Infuriating when neighbours are so noisey. We had one, near us, on New years Eve who erected a marquee in his garden, had people round for an all night party!! Did'nt finish till gone 4.30am. Not good when you have to work the next day!

God, that's awful.  OK so they apologised but they were lucky that they weren't apologising for a much worse outcome.  Hopefully they've learned something from the experience to avoid it happening again.

A - glad you finally got an appointment.  NHS medical establishments do seem to be getting less and less active in the communication process, they really don't seem to want any of their staff to talk to you, do they?  And I'm sure MRSA isn't spread by phone...

It reminds me rather of the hospital last week and their rather confusing communication policies.  There were notices EVERYWHERE telling you to switch your mobile phones off, but when I tried to crowbar some info out of them about when the other/broken half would be discharged, they just said "it's probably better if he phones you."  Huh
