Oh no! Poor Mort. Launderette nearby? You beat me to it Milly. Much sympathy Mort. We didn't have a washing machine when I first married, and couldn't even consider getting one until mum-in-law broke her arm. I used to dread doing blankets.

When I was a student I used to dread doing jeans. Blankets didn't get a look in!

I didn't have a washing machine at first, but by then duvets had become popular, so no blankets. The big stuff like sheets, towels and duvet covers I used to wash in the bath. Not being very strong I used to wring out the heavy towels by putting them round the taps and then pulling. I seem to remember George not fancying that idea, but I would have been unlikely to have pulled the taps off. 60 mph gale here coming right off the sea and on to the back of my house. Sand anybody? Free to take away!

We didn't have a washing machine for two years when I was first married. Big stuff and shirts went to the laundry, smaller things we took to the lauderette. Simple. Somehow it wouldn't seem simple now.

Just a Message to thank everyone for their kind thoughts.
The clot has dissolved, and her language is back. I'm a bit, er, groggy - I'll post in a few days time.
Again, many thanks.

Excellent news, SH. You must (both) be feeling very relieved. Now, maybe time for you to get your head down and catch up with some sleep?
