Richard, are you ok? Your posting behaviour today seems a little Kafkaesque. Should we call a doctor? Cheesy

This site is definitely responding too slowly for me. Occasionally a page will appear quite soon but I've been timing the waits at about 10 seconds for most of them. That's making this site a bit of a pain and I'm not talking about the pages with lots of pictures on them. I've been flicking through pages on the official Radio 3 site (TOP) and I have to say the pages there appear immediately, as do all other sites I've visited. This has been happening since Saturday and I know other people had problems that evening.

Oh, I've no intention of going back there, unless there are radical changes and the necessary assurances are given.

Sorry about all the insects yesterday, I was going a bit mad because my computer packed up on Friday night and I don't know when I'll get it back from being repaired (with an intact hard disc I hope). In the meantime there's a pile of urgent things I can't do, and I don't even know how big the pile is because my list of urgent tasks is in the computer as well (I used to have it on a piece of paper I'd carry with me everywhere but eventually thought having it in the computer, which I also take with me everywhere, would be more elegant). And my backup disc (which hasn't been updated for a few months anyway) is in another country. The experience has brought home to me the dangerous extent to which I rely on this fragile machine... good thing I don't have any electronic-music concerts coming up soon, and that I still use centuries-old technology for writing scores.

I think I have them under control now, but I have to phone the computer shop later and who knows what monsters that might unleash...

I'm listening to Bartok,  ( I'm waiting for CotW...)

What's wrong with me?

I hate Bartok.

I never enjoy hearing his music.

I must be inadequate.

Is it that I'm not a musician? Is he a musician's musician?

I did not like Bartok for some reason (while always knowing that he is a great composer). I don't think he is musician composer, but it takes some time (or state of mind) to understand his music. His music is not always harsh or dissonant.
I am glad you like it, Jan.  Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss
I think this week it is Bach's one year in Leipzig COTW. Best wishes

I like some Bartok (string quartets) but when I had to sing in The Miraculous Mandarin I hated it.

MY AVATAR HAS CHANGED. I'm irrationally upset about it. It's infuriating to be represented by something that has no connection with me. When my son was here at the weekend (helping me choose/set up my new computer) he did me a nice Benjamin Britten rose. I am technologically speaking totally illiterate, and though I know there are threads about strange happenings with avatars, I simply don't understand at all what to do. Son has gone back to London. Waaah!
