Whow! "A"'s sofa is pretty small. Can't be many ducks behind it.

It depends what kind of ducks they are. Are they like these: You can have these kind of ducks (and a lot of them) on a sofa. What is good about them, that Mrs soundwave will approve.

HO S`wave!, I was looking for an example of a Pygmy Duck (although apparently they are called geese, even though they are ducks. Think of the duck identity crisis!!) Anyway, I got rather seduced by this fellow, a Pygmy Owl. I rather like him. "I call a duck, a duck. Not a flamin`` goose. Blimey, they`ll be calling us flippin` camels next. Gordon Duck!". Esmerelda shook the pages of the `Ducks and Drakes Daily ` in irritation and thought deeply dark thoughts.

Ho Mort. I love the Pygmy Owl. How nice to see that Esmeralda is with us. I was saying, only the other day, to Crumble, that we could do with some ducks to keep the grass down. Apparently Lady and Miasma Fandemere are more or less overun with them so, perhaps, I'll go over and grab a few. In view of Miasma's unnerving, violent actions - due to mild insanity - I think I'll take Big Ron the Berserker with me. I have to say that Gordon Duck is not known to me. I don't recollect him in the cast list at all. However, if he is a friend of yours, then he is a friend of mine. Many affectionate quacks, Soundwave

Esmerelda grew pale and collapsed heavily onto her maribou trimmed chaise longue. She muttered feverishly to herself, `No, I don`t flippin` believe it. Someone`s got to S`wave, they must `ave. Not remember Gordon Duck? The Gordon Bennett for Thinking Ducks? Impossible! No, there is only one explanation. S`wave is not S`wave. I smell fowl play. The Emperor Chickens of Planet Cacciatore 77 have mind melded with him. The next phase will be ..... Quick pass the duckweed!` she gasped.

Ah Mort. Gordon Bennett Duck rings a bell. Really - 'tis I, S'wave, the friend of Pietro and Lorenzo di Viagra. Pray assure Esmerelda that I am fine and that she must have no concerns on my account. I'll send Hank to her immediately. He'll reassure her - and probably take her out for a meal as well. He'll bring some of Dabble and Quacks duckweed with him. It's really good. I'm off to munch now and hope to return later. Happy wishes to all.

Thanks Mort, a belated happy Easter to you too. What a glorious day... even dusted the old sandals and gave them an outing. My feller of course didn't wear them.. with or without socks !!(do you remember that big conversation on the 'other ' side?!!) Ducks were feeling very lazy today and stayed well hidden behind the sofa, although I have to admit that ours is a little bit larger !! A x

A, your command of those effete Southern formulations is approaching World-Service-style perfection.
Never too late for a bit of duckweed. Not for me, though, I'm still under the weather. We had some friends round for breakfast today, actually they stayed well into the afternoon, which was nice, except that I was shivering in bed the whole time.

Totally disconnected rant. I've just booked for James MacMillan's new opera The Sacrifice, which for some obscure reason (Capital of Culture, I suppose) is being performed first in Liverpool. That's not my rant - TICKETMASTER is! Almost £10 in booking fees, handling charges etc, not to mention hours of unnecessary automated options etc. before you get through to a human. I only wanted tickets! Grrrrr....
