Mozart, Sinfonia Concertante K364 - Oistrakh pere and fils with the Berlin PO.  Balm for the soul at the end of a trying day.

Schubert Lieder: Bernarda Fink with Gerold Huber (piano)

25 songs on Harmonia Mundi; HMC  901991: a real bargain at £8 99 from hmv online.

one another.   O torment for him who realises this!"

Arrived today: JC Bach keyboard concertos, JS Bach English Suites (Gustav), Panufnik Sinfonia di sfere etc.

I adjourned the spin after a couple of movements of the Quartet to tune in to tonight's Prom. Very impressed with what one of Mr. Tilbury's former students is doing with The Planets. No wonder the audience is continuing their practice of applauding each movement, as they did during Pleiades. I bet they are fuming over at TOP. Must pop over and have a look. Wink

He made an even more excellent fist of the Antartica, Bryn: more than enough to remind me that Tod Handley wasn't necessarily the last of the line after all.

This Nethersage fellow seems to be giving them a run for their money though.  Cheesy

Now that has among other things the fastest or should I say least slow Louange à l'éternité de Jésus I've ever heard. Comes in at a whisker under 7 minutes. Which considering my own personal favourite weighs in at 10'48" is quite an achievement.

Now listening to the Messiaen prom from t'other night (I've been in Wakefield all day, I have to talk like that) since there were so many glowing reviews and I have broadband for a limited time only...  Smiley

Here it's Bruno Walter's live 1950 Mahler 4. Free this month with Diapason.  Smiley

And damn fine it is too. I think Irmgard Seefried might be very near the top of my list of fave sopranos in the finale. (Up till now it's been Ameling with Haitink and then a very big gap back to the rest of the field...)
