Nicely done, John and Parsifal!

Birtwistle – Theseus Games
Elliott Carter – The Minotaur
Maxwell Davies - Into the Labyrinth
Martinů – Arianne

I see that Birtwistle has a new opera The Minotaur opening at Covent Garden next year.

Parsifal got the link while I was still messing about with miracles, illusions and stuff Cheesy

I've never figured out Birtwhistle. I tried watching Gawain on telly years ago.

I never got to see Gawain, but have heard 'Gawain's Journey' which is an orchestral piece drawns from various interludes and the second act from the opera. There's some very interesting music there, dramatic music, some beautiful textures too. I'd need a few more listens but do feel he's worth exploring, so I'll probably try and get to The Minotaur next year.
