Well, that sounds like Turandot... a hero - names, discovering them, understanding them... I'm a bit unfocussed here... The Olympians for Bliss? Or are we looking at Princes/ Knights/ Kings?  Huh

Yes to the Puccini. Now, think about the plots and a common feature of them. The Bliss (a song cycle) will lead you to the connection.

Wagner - Siegfried
Enescu - Oedipe
Puccini - Turandot
Bliss
Birtwistle - Gawain

Riddles/quizzes to solve are the answer, rm, which you've solved admirably!

Puccini – Turandot (Turandot & Calaf)
Wagner – Siegfried (The Wanderer and Mime)
Enescu – Oedipe (Oedipus and the Sphinx)
Bliss – A Knot of Riddles
Birtwistle – Gawain (the Fool sets the Court riddles in the First Act)

Good to have someone else setting the questions, bbm!

I'm not convinced, but could there be a maritime connection?

Holst - Songs Of Land, Sea And Air
Elgar - Sea Pictures
Bantock - The Sea Reivers
Ireland - Sea Fever

No where near, I'm afraid IGI!! Perhaps you ought to look a bit closer to the connection a bit more with  say, closer to home!

pim_derks, getting there. Perhaps a look at London's concert halls etc might give you a better clue. Or the ones that are no longer with us now, maybe this will help.

Sorry IGI. Not Hammersmith. Perhaps I ought to give you people a better clue. This is more diffcult than I thought it would be. Its one of those glorious concert halls that are no longer with us and these composers had there music played there.
