That's the one, John. Did you catch it on yesterday's New Year's Day Concert from Vienna?
Cherubini - Ali Baba, ou Les Quarante Voleurs Ravel - Shéhérazade, ouverture de féerie Rózsa - The Golden Voyage of Sinbad Johann Strauss II - Tausend und eine Nacht Weber - Abu Hassan Bottesini Nielsen Rimsky-Korsakov Rabaud

From the Rimsky Korsa coffeehouse there is of course his own famous Sheherazade -- or is that all too obvious?

Nicely done, JW! Some lovely music amongst this selection. The only piece I don't know is the Bottesini which, interestingly, isn't for double bass solo! The Nielsen is brilliant, especially the Marketplace at Ispahan, where different melodies are layered over each other. I'm only familiar with the Scheherezades but I do have an LP of Abu Hassan featuring Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, really don't remember playing it; I think the old NMC avatar deserves a revival after bringing that to my attention

I've heard of that Schwarzkopf recording, but have one conducted by Bruno Weil which is good fun:

IGI, The Mendelssohn is correct - I put it at the end but it was the expected easy 'starter' Not Rodney Bennett. Not Mozart. The Piano Concerto probably hasn't a key, Anna may be able to help........

Loads of G major flute concerti...how about Vivaldi's RV 439 which at least has an interesting title 'La Notte'?
Antheil's Piano Concerto No.1?!

Well, I was going to say Tchaikovsky but since you mention it, it could be Adge Cutler and The Wurzels: "I got a brand new Piano Concerto and I'll give you the key" I'll get me coat.
