Right, for that I'm going to get out my set of composers that has a link to the varieties of herbaceous, biennial, and dicotyledonous flowering plants known as cabbage.

Darn, I've given away the link

Britten - Rape of Lucretia?
It wasn't actually the Respighi that did it, IGI. In fact I still haven't worked that one out.

Respighi's Trittico Botticelliano, as featured on this lovely disc:

The 2nd movement, The Adoration of the Magi, finds Respighi weaving in the melody from 'O Come, O Come, Emmanuel'!

Now I'm in the mood, will you set another one, Il Grand Inquisitor, whilst I go down to pick up another load out of the drier?   Grin

Happy to, Milly.  Smiley A little easier, I think, but another one where it's not a common word link. Connect these four (subs sitting on the bench if required):

Cherubini
Ravel
Rózsa
Johann Strauss II

I still think your Jupiter connection was pretty Fabuleux, Millie. And I was uni- not multi-tasking as is the male wont.

Thank you George. Kiss  I also did the Daily Mail quick crossword in the middle of all that.  Seriously!  I did.  (Not that this is a great example of an intellectual exercise of course, but just to prove that I was in fact also doing other things.)

I think we may be talking Arabian legends (or even Arabian Nights) here:

Ravel - Sheherezade
Weber - Abu Hassan (or alternatively Oberon)
Rozsa - The Thief of Baghdad
Cherubini - Ali Baba

 Huh

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

Well spotted, pw!

The Stauss is not the Persian March, however. You need something more closely linked to the works concerned...

The reserve line-up, should you care to complete the link, were:

Bottesini
Nielsen
Rimsky-Korsakov
Rabaud
