Cheers, hh! A clever connection, although I groaned at your clue re the connection being within a Sullivan work, as I have a bit of a blindspot towards G&S. I have a highlights disc of Pirates somewhere upstairs, but I've never really taken to it. Perhaps I should read through the Ruddigore and the Rest thread and investigate some more...

OK
Here's a really evil one...

Lee Jae-Jin
Jule Styne
William Mundy
Wenzel Muller
Atanasio Bello Montero
Hilding Rosenberg
Richard Wagner

I'm looking for works by all of these composers with a common theme that will also put them in order...
And bonus points will go to the poster naming the composer who could have replaced them all through this connection.

While you're chewing on that one, an easier one to keep you happy:

Michael Tippett
Giovanni Paisiello
Christoph Willibald Gluck
Henry Purcell

I'm looking for titles of works, all linked by an opera by a fifth composer.

Tippett - King Priam
Paisiello - Achille in Sciro
Gluck - Paride ed Elena
Henry Purcell - Dido and Æneas

all of which could well point to Berlioz's Les Troyens.

Yup!
That wasn't actually the Paisiello I'd picked out originally. I had selected his Andromaca because then, all four principle characters (Priam, Andromache, Paris and Aeneas) are actually Trojans...

I must say that hh's previous squeezer is proving impenetrable...the fact that the only composer I know there is Wagner makes it harder. There are, however, pages of works by Hilding Rosenberg here should anyone care to check through them for inspiration!

Would a fibonacci series be barking up the wrong tree?

I've detected two Kaspars, as well, and several mountain kings, but I don't see how that would lead to an order.

Shapes?  We've got Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend (Styne) and Mass upon the Square (Mundy)...

help?

For the order:

Wenzel Muller
Hilding Rosenberg
William Mundy
Lee Jae-Jin
Richard Wagner
Jule Styne
Atanasio Bello Montero ?

And the composer who could have replaced them all: Stockhausen?

If that's right, George, you're a genius...but I have no idea why Stockhausen's the linking composer!

By George! (not the first time and not the last I'd hazard) he's got it! The linking composer is Stockhausen!
You can probably tell us all why now...
The order isn't quite right. Which pieces were you thinking?
