A brief curlew (no that's not the clue, I'm just being silly) before I shut down my hot and sweaty browser for the evening. The music for Thursday is a film score.

The order isn't quite right. Does that make me a 'flawed genius' then? I've always fancied being one of them. I imagine I've probably got Wenzel Muller (Sunday) and Atanasio Bello Montero (Monday) the wrong way round then? Having got the others it was a 50:50 guess at that point and Montero sounded more of a Sunday sort of chap somehow, but presumably not.

George, I can't imagine you being any more flawed than the rest of us but would definitely not question the genius part. Wensel Muller is correctly placed. Which piece? Atanasio Bello Montero is not a Monday person. Monday: Willliam Mundy [groan {sorry!}] Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday: Richard Wagner (Good Friday Music from Parsifal) Saturday Sunday: Wenzel Muller

Oh, I had William Mundy down for his setting for Ash Wednesday! The whole thing is begining to unravel now. The other ones I had, not so far mentioned, were: Hilding Rosenburg - Punch's Shrove Tuesday Lee Jae-Jin - Maundy Thursday Jule Styne - Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night

Any ideas as to which pieces Wednesday and Sunday are representing in this puzzle? (incidentally, in case anyone is still wondering about the Stockhausen connection...)

Wenzel Muller's Das Neusonntagskind is the correct answer. It's a Singspiel about a 'large and formidable' housemaster who's incredibly lucky but also plagued by (and terrified by) ghosts (this is all from Grove by the way). First performed in 1793 in Vienna. Has anyone seen/heard this and is it any good?

The Atanasio Bella Montero is a bit of a cop out if you ask me. It's a Lamentation for Wednesday in Holy Week.
So...
Willliam Mundy [groan {sorry! but he is referred to as William Monday in some sources}] Hilding Rosenburg (Punch's Shrove Tuesday) Atanasio Bella Montero (Lamentation for Wednesday in Holy Week) Lee Jae-Jin (Maundy Thursday) Richard Wagner (Good Friday Music from Parsifal) Jule Styne (Saturday Night is the Loneliest Night) Wenzel Muller (Das Neusonntagskind)
Karlheinz Stockhausen (Licht)

You're using Grove? No wonder I couldn't google either of those 2, never heard of either of the composers much less the pieces. Muller did write an opera called Sonntagskinde as well.
