Drat, it's been solved. I was about to suggest the following:
Handel: Cuckoo and the Nightingale, HWV 295 Telemann: 'The Nightingale' from Overture in G Rorem: 'The Nightingale' (song) Berio: 'Rossignolet du bois' from Folk Songs (1964)

Well done so far IGI!! Where do I come from is the clue to the Ireland!! I should have put in Philip Sparke instead of Philip Wilby IGI, sorry. But yes there is a Scottish connection. The compositions you mentioned are all correct apart from the ireland and the new composer Philip Sparke.

Philip Sparke - Hymn of the Highlands I can't find an Ireland piece which links to Scotland. Ireland himself (though born near Altrincham) was of Scottish descent.

Eek! Do you know how many pieces Moszkowski wrote? Is it a common word connection?

Dan, my mind went there straight away, but failed to pick out any Biblical characters for the rest.
My Bartok Lucky Streak on the Snatch Thread obviously doesn't continue over here!
