Yes, indeed - I was just about to post a whopping great clue having just this minute identified Baz's latest 'snatch' in Syd's quiz as William Kroll's Banjo and Fiddle, a piece for violin & piano!
I was thinking of the Saint-Saëns song Guitares et mandolines, but La Lyre et la Harpe does nicely. Now, can you spot the RVW song?

Sometimes, as you know, you just see them! Gergiev did the Liadov From the Apocalypse the year before last at the Proms.

In Photobucket, just click next to where it says 'IMG Code', then paste it into your message.

Will be interested in your reaction to the Mahler. Zinman's No.4 due next month of course.

I'm working on something devious...

Nice easy one, this:

Schönberg
Carter
Knussen

Could it be:

Knussen: Night Dances
Schoenberg: Transfigured Night
Carter: Night Fantasies
Yes - but also no! Well done -for it COULD have been just that- but it isn't! Nice one, but - er - well, let me give you all a clue; you may not necessarily have to be looking only and specifically for work titles in all cases...

This was going to be easy but now I'm not so sure*...

Ligeti
Brahms
Henze
Dvorak

I've got more names to add, should they be needed.

*Now that I've said this, it'll last 30 seconds!

Also Derek Bourgeois composed a piece called Apocalyspe. One of the most challenging pieces of music in the brass band rep.
