I think I can predict your theory...no deal, I'm afraid!

On the home page there's a link to the Archived R3boards Photobucket where pages of 'Smileys' can be located!

There are a couple of alternatives you could try:

Fauré/ Debussy
Moszkowski/ Lalo
Vaughan Williams
Gottschalk

Espagnol possibly IGI?

Faure - Le pas espagnol from the Dolly Suite
Moszkowski - Caprice Espagnol
Vaughan-Williams - Unknown (Songs of Travel?)
Gottschalk - La Jota Aragonesa (Caprice Espagnol), Op 14

First thing that comes to mind:

Moszkowski / Lalo: Caprice espagnol / Symphonie espagnole

[sorry cross posting]

Not a Spanish link, so not Caprice espagnol/ Symphonie espagnole, but there is a Spanish feel to the Moszkowski/ Lalo pair.

Nope. Fauré, Debussy and RVW are all songs. Gottschalk and Moszkowski are for piano, whilst the Lalo is orchestral.

Philip Sparke - Hymn of the Highlands
I can't find an Ireland piece which links to Scotland. Ireland himself (though born near Altrincham) was of Scottish descent.
Well done IGI. I did think for a minute about the Ireland myself, but there we go. I be interested to here how you got the Philip Sparke.

Ah, the Inquisition has eyes everywhere, bbm!  Shocked

Here's an additional composer to help with the current squeezer:

Fauré/ Debussy
Moszkowski/ Lalo
Vaughan Williams
Gottschalk
Saint-Saëns

Is there more to it than Variationen op. 31, Variations (for orchestra), Variations for piano?

Sadly, yes - or rather this has nothing to do with it at all!...

Carter: Night Fantasies

Mark

Is yours to do with string instruments?

Fauré / Debussy: Mandoline (Cinq Mélodies de Venise) / Mandoline: Les donneurs de sérénades
Moszkowski / Lalo: Guitarre (Zwei Klavierstücke) / Guitarre
Vaughan Williams: tba
Gottschalk: Le banjo
Saint-Saëns: La Lyre et la Harpe, op. 57
