The situation so far...
Bax Janacek Puccini Aleko - Rachmaninov R Strauss Stravinsky Vaughan Williams Verdi Warlock
Two more operas lurking here, plus a song, a chamber work and some very popular orchestral works.

Are we to omit initial article adjectives, e.g. The or La?

Yes, I've omitted definite/indefinite articles from the nine compositions, tf, so La Bohème would be a B.

From ALL nine?
Well, only four had them at the beginning, to be fair! Bax Janacek Puccini Aleko - Rachmaninov R Strauss Stravinsky Vaughan Williams Verdi Warlock Some guesses as to individual titles would help, I feel.

A few hits there, hh. I was going for Strauss' Alpine Symphony, but as your's starts with the same initial, it'll do nicely.

Sorry, excuse moi, being as I am the only one to have gained an alphabetical point (A), so to say (dead clever those Welsh), but is the answer in the same order as the clues? i.e. logical? Because TRRAL as posted by hh (excuse me hh) makes no sense whether in Welsh or Slovenian.

No, Anty, the composers are in alphabetical order, so you'll need to juggle! (You've got T, A, A, R and L so far)

No, Anty, the composers are in alphabetical order, so you'll need to juggle! Last time I looked at the alphabet it was in alphabetical order Has this changed? Am I confused?

Am I confused?
Not your fault, I fear I've not been clear; the nine composers, instead of being listed in random order, or the order whereby their compositions would spell out the solution, have been listed alphabetically. Once you've found all nine works (or possibly before) you will need to rearrange the nine initial letters of the compositions to make a tenth composition (by one of these composers). The mystery work is made up of two words (2, 7). Tintagel - Bax Janacek Puccini Aleko - Rachmaninov Also Sprach Zarathustra R Strauss Rite of Spring - Stravinsky Lark Ascending - Vaughan Williams Verdi Warlock
