Strav: The Sea and Sinbads Ship

Ah, from that well known Stravinsky masterpiece, Scheherazade, no doubt!  Tongue  'Frayed knot.

No nautical connection here, despite my recent Malipiero discovery on the VW thread...

Mythology?

Not mythology, although that does features in the title from our seventh composer:

Ravel
Malipiero
Bartók
Stravinsky
Dukas
Goossens
Florent Schmitt

You shouldn't have to look far for the Dukas.  Wink

Is it a common word or a maeter-linck?

It's not a common word, and I feel that you're closing in for the kill, to leave this one dead and buried, Mr Garnett. Here's an eighth composer for you to muse on...

Ravel
Malipiero
Bartók
Stravinsky
Dukas
Goossens
Florent Schmitt
Roussel

and I'll add Satie and de Falla to complete the line-up.

Floods?

Ravel -- "Ondine" from Gaspard de la Motte
Malipiero -- l'Arca di Noé
Bartók -- The Wooden Prince (a stream overflows its banks)
Stravinsky -- The Flood
Dukas -- The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Goossens -- The Apocalypse?
Florent Schmitt --
Roussel -- Le Festin d'Araignee (the itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout)
Satie --
de Falla --

Evening all,

Not floods, although you seem to be struggling to keep you head above la mer. The ten works in question are linked in a very particular way. If you managed to get a couple (and some hefty clues were dropped for Dukas and Roussel, for example) you could find out why they were written/published.
