If Turfers is correct, is the Offenbach Barbe-Bleue?

Right lines, IGI. But it doesn't fit the pattern. And I'm not saying anything about turfers.  Lips sealed

Colours?

Weill:  Silver Sea
Adams:  Black Lagonda
Offenbach:  Une Nuit Blanche

Or clocks?

Weill: 4 o'clock
Haydn:  Clock Symphony

Er, the rest I will think about  Cheesy

Good morning, connectors!

Having allowed you to writhe and squirm and lose sleep overnight, I will now confirm that turfers was correct with the key work, which is Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Bear in mind we're looking for a thematic connection, not a common word link.

I'll also throw in two subs:

Kurt Weill
Haydn
John Adams
Offenbach
Luca Francesconi
Handel

Is the Offenbach his overture to Orpheus in the Underworld?

Orchestrations/arrangements by someone else?

Rhapsody in Blue was orchestrated by Grofe: Weill's Oil Music and Bastille Music were arranged by - er- David Drew (?). I'm barking up the wrong tree, am I not?

I go for a colour connection:

Weill, Silver Lake (1933)
Adams, Onyx (1976
Offenbach, Barbe-Bleue
Handel, Harmonious Blacksmith

BUT... Haydn and Francesconi???

Can I ask whether the theme relates to the title of the piece or to the work itself?
I was thinking along various tangents, and noticing that there is a Second Rhapsody for piano and orchestra, I wondered if the Weill in question could be Mahagonny (not the Rise and Fall thereof)...

The theme is in the title of the Gershwin.
