Well done, you lot! A very good collective effort. Adams - I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the skyWeill - Your Navy (is the one I had, but Anty's will do fine) Handel - Music for the Royal Fireworks Francesconi - Cobalt, Scarlet Haydn - the Prussian quartets Offenbach - Las grotte d' azur

Nice puzzle martle! Well I think that Anty deserves double kudos, because not only did she spot the connection (which was more subtle than 'just a colour connection') but she also got me thinking in the right direction for sky blue. I was looking for words like 'azure' or 'cobalt' that can stand on their own as shades of blue.

I was wondering when Miles Davis was going to come into it...
Another quartet, with subs at the ready. This is a thematic link, not a common word.
1 Ernst Krenek 16 Orlando Gibbons 37 John Adams 41+43 Ralph Vaughan Willliams

hh, I fear I may be having a seriously ultra-blonde moment but .... what is the significance of the numbers beside the composers' names?

Oh, is this going to be maths or metaphysical related? In which case I am all at sea already. Is the Adams Doctor Atomic?

This won't get past us Americans! I was wondering how easy that would be... 41+43 Ralph Vaughan Williams RVW - Five Mystical Songs for baritone, chorus and orchestra, settings of George Herbert
Nice try, but it's 41+43 not 41/43 (I had Georg Philipp Telemann down for 2/6).
