The Beethoven's not the Cuckoo, but 'The Highland Watch'.  Cheesy

(I had Wendy Carlos' 'A Clockwork Orange' film score up my sleeve.)

WOO HOO !!!!  Crikey, not bad for a Monday morning Marts!!  Kiss Kiss

Here's an "easy but cheesy" one:

Weill
Macrae
Rimsky-Korsakov
Gordon Sumner

Subs to come

Well, here are two subs and an indication of where it is cheesy.

Weill
Macrae
Rimsky-Korsakov
Gordon Sumner         CHEESY GROAN ALERT
Copland
Joplin                       CHEESY GROAN ALERT

More later

PS  Don't get distracted by cheese - 'Cheese' is not a clue, merely an indication of a poor pun

Er ... bees?

Rimsky-Korsakov - Flight of the Bumble Bee
Gordon Sumner is of course better known as Sting
Scott Joplin's music was used in the soundtrack of the film The Sting

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

No, not bees.  You are correct that Sumner is Sting.  But I'm looking for works by him, joplin and all people listed.

I'll add Delius, but I won't tell you whether or not he is a cheesy groan alert or not.

Weill 'Threepenny opera'
Sting sang the intro and chorus to Dire Straits' 'Money for nothing'

Hmmmm. I see that Sting has also performed Weill's 'Mack the Knife' on a tribute album...

Sorry, not that Ron, and sorry too that this is harder than I thought.

Two more subs, again without letting you know whether or not they are CGA...

Reich

Need more help?

Here's the list, with more subs, and with groans identified...

Weill
MacRae
Rimsky-Korsakov
Gordon Sumner. CGA
Copland
Joplin CGA
Delius
Reich
Martin Jacques CGA
Sieczynski
Moriarty CGA

Maybe you should ignore the groan alerts first?

Surely the Sieczynski should have given it away by now?  And in case you need another clue, the MacRae is a work for viola and piano.

Ok, Tommo. It's 'City', isn't it.

MacRae - The City Inside
Copland - Quiet City
Weill - City of Mahagonny
Delius - Paris (song of a great city)
Rimsky - Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh
Reich - City Life
Sieczynski - Vienna, City of Dreams

I shall now work on the cheese items.  Tongue
