Morning all, 1st coffee of the day already drunk, muesli, banana, apple and the latest piece of Eno advice is:

"What wouldn't you do?"

Well exactly. Today has been reserved for sharpening my Lilypond skills, yesterday's strategy was to copy out(or rather, program in) late Beethoven string quartet passages, time to move on to something more complex, to examine where the limits really are with this program -could be interesting to see how it copes with Lachenmann...

Morning all.  Dull, cold and grey here at the moment but loads to do.  Got to take my mind off sad things.

Double birthday tomorrow - two grandsons, one 7 and one 2 years old.  What are the odds on that I wonder?  Both sons to have their first-born child, a son, on the same day only 5 years apart....

Baby party tomorrow afternoon and 7 year old on Saturday afternoon, so lots to plan and shop for.   Grin

Mornin` all. I haven`t made up my mind about the `good` bit yet. Some blithering idiot at Air Traffic Control has been messing about with flight paths and I couldn`t get to sleep for planes thundering overhead every 2 minutes until the early hours. Then it was blissfully quiet, zzzzzzzzzzz until 7.20 when they started up again Angry Angry  Wonder if wine corks would make good earplugs? Grin

Milly, my brother had his 2 sons (well, obviously he didn`t actually have them  Grin) same day 5 years apart.

What games do loud over-excited, food-fighting 7-year-olds play when it's cold & raining ? Huh

...Hide 'n seek ? Smiley
musical chairs ?
musical bumps.. Shocked
... musical statues!!
the game where you're blindfolded & have to find people, -can't remember name...
snap
...naughts 'n crosses for the intellectually understimulated
"I spy with my little eye"  Cheesy

...hot-damn, out of ideas already  Sad

That's a good sign, Mort - you'll be well enough for a Grumpy Old Rant soon Grin

I overslept this morning, for the second day running.  I think I must be getting old as I am losing the ability to be a functional human being on six hours' sleep.  Hmmm... better stop posting on here at 1am.  It's at times like this that I'm grateful for having moved closer to my office (it IS possible to fall out of bed at 8:15, having slept through the alarm at 6:45, and be in the office before 9:00 - if the buses are in my favour).

I remember a 6th birthday party where one of my son's friends started throwing cakes, and the most refined and well brought up little girl we knew grabbed the communal (but almost empty by then) bowl of crisps and began to lick up the remaining crumbs. I never did tell her mother.

Oh, good morning. Sounds like a bit of progress there, Mort.

Mornin' Mort and Ruth,

Doing anything exciting today? the weather isn't that wonderful here and enthusiasm for the day is pretty low !

I suppose one good thing , Ruth , is that days of getting to work on time are long gone... retirement that's the name of the game !!

Surely the best game of all ( for all ages really!!! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes) is Dead Lions.. where everyone has to lie motionless on the floor ... anyone who moves is out.... lasts a long time and is nicely peaceful. The ones who are out always want to help find other 'movers' !!

Exciting?  Not really.  I'm having a bit of an admin day at work (rather than collating business performance reports, which is what I spend most of the time doing).  After work I am going to go to an exercise class, and then I need to de-junk and clean my flat.  This is not a one-evening job, but I'll be happy if I can just get the kitchen clean and tidy and transfer all the scattered junk mail and other debris from the living room to the recycling pile.

A - Dead Lions is good for calming down the end of a kids' party.  I once won such a game by falling asleep, at the end of my 6th(?) birthday party.

De-junk... now that is an ongoing job if ever there was one!!

I dejunked quite a lot before I made my move darn sarf, but it accumulates around me.. not mine so much now but.... it is endless!!!

Why DO we keep some of the stuff we do? - 'It may be useful one day' 'My mother gave me that' 'I will lose weight again one day'...ah well... are we all the same here?

I am very short of storage in my flat, which means clutter mainly has to be either on show or chucked out.  It concentrates the mind.  If I had an extra bedroom or any large walk-in cupboards it would be MUCH worse, because I would be able to remain in denial about the clutter until it became virtually inoperable.

I'm an extreme case.

I'm quite worried about it, actually. I don't see how I could move.
