That got my day off to  a cheery start too.

I have not seen California in ages.
The hills are fantastique.
When we were there there was a lot of smoke. I did not know that behind them there was a montain with a snow top  for several years.

But the brushy grass mountains I remember very well. It is so hot and dry there.

When I was there they had lowns which they watered from sprinklers. There was a lot of wasted water they did not have.

I am so happy to see California again.

Some more pictures with my old Konica 500 taken in 2004 and the last three in San Francisco in May 2008 with my new Sony H50.

Colorado avenue on the entrance to Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, this shot can also be seen on a live webcam: http://www.westland.net/piercam/

Rain storm over the pacific ocean from Speedway - Venice Beach, LA.

The Pacific rain storm widens

Another shot from Topanga State Park of Los Angeles, Century City can be seen on the left(the built up area), and just further on is Downtown LA, the built up area in the background.

Aerial view of Los Angeles on route over the pacific, the bit sticking out at the bottom is Rancho Palos Verdes and just to the right is the start of Long Beach

The Pacific Coast Highway, Los Angeles, just below the Palisades Bluffs - which are falling down, and yes houses and worried home owners live just over the cliff top

The Stainless Steel exterior of the Frank Gehry designed Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA.

I took this on a beautiful warm day this year in May, later on there was an accident on the bridge and huge jam

My friend's apartment lies in this huge building in Beautiful Mill Valley, north San francisco.

I did not know I remember it so well and vividly until I saw your pictures.

I see that they still have bad traffic and smoke.
They told us that it was much better then there it was before. They said police used to wear gas masks.
The cars are still big I can see. Will they go into smaller cars? Who knows.

This is how I remember it. It was good shopping area. But you did not go that far, I think.

Who is their Government? Is it still that German body builder?
Now I am really happy. Thank you Rob_G.

I can see that they take it easy with water now. And they can dry their cloths without a dryer too. They are buying water from Canada.

Golden bridge is so beautiful on your photo. How strange that I did not think it was so beautiful then.

After a few months in Boston we came to Laguna Beach.
Then we lived in Irvine. Here is the University there.

There are a lot of new buildings that were not there before, but I still recognize this campus.
Music and Dance Departments were outside.
We stayed there until we moved to Toronto, but that is another story.

I can not believe I am looking at these pictures!!!!

This is so beautiful! I thought it was South of France and then I saw S. Wales.

Is there an island on a back ground? It is amazing! Palm trees in Wales.

Back to California.

South Coast Plaza in Orange county.
No wonder I have difficult time parking here.
I did not drive for closed to 10 years. I passed the test about 2 years ago.
I have to tell you questions on that test were so funny. I was not sure if they were joking.

[

There is CalState Fullerton. I studied there too. Both times it was for my MA.

Fullerton had a big department and UCI had a tiny music department.

They build an opera house just before we moved away.
The opera house is accross from  South Coast Plaza. One can do the shopping, cross the street and go  to the opera.

Disneyland Park in Anaheim.

well, some of the comments fuelled by a photo on here about my fridge freezer needing defrosting made me rather fridge conscious, however inconsequential the matter, so today I decided to take the matter in hand and rip out the icebergs. I hope you are proud of it as much as i am  Tongue

Snapped at Leasowes Park not far from me on my little camera. This is actually part of what used to be the Dudley No. 2 canal. The park was landscaped "naturally" by William Shenstone in the 18th century and Dudley Council have started doing some work to re-create his original.

http://www.dudley.gov.uk/leisure-and-culture/parks-and-open-spaces/the-leasowes-project

The Lapal Canal Trust has plans to re-open the canal right through to Selly Oak but they are pipedreams IMO.

Doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that I was taking autumnal pictures last year and we're getting to that time of year again Sad These were taken using my little camera on a walk this afternoon.

These are such a beautiful pictures. I love the horse and the flowers. This is absolute bliss.
There is no need to feel bad that this year has passed quickly. First of all things get better and better with time.
I would not want to live through some of my young years again.

I adopted the following attitude now: This is the best years of my life.
