The earworminess of Sheherazade, discussed on another thread prompted me to dig up this one.
It is with very great regret that I must report the lodging in my brain this morning, having heard Rolf Harris on the Today programme, of Two Little Boys. (The song, ok? Not - oh never mind.)
If I don't do something about this pretty quickly it's going to be there all day, and I won't be answerable for my actions.
Have you tried some Sheherazade to counteract it? I like 'earworminess' - I may be using that again. [Edit: Ah - some backreading reveals that this is an Oliver Sacksism. I own that book but I've not read it yet - I was promising myself that I'd finish the Singing Neanderthals first. Then I got sent to lots of hospital waiting rooms which required something lighter and Loose-Women-proof. ] Oh GOD I've got '2 little boys' now.... You fiend!!

For some reason over the last few days I have got stuck with Bach's Bourree from the lautensuite in E moll (BWV 996; it was bad (or do I mean good? no, persistent) enough that I had to go and look it up).

What's so odd is that there often seems to be no reason why a particular piece appears and gets stuck. BBM's mention of Sea Pictures reminded me that a few days ago "Where Corals Lie" suddenly popped into my head. I have no idea why. I hadn't heard it for ages, I don't particularly like it, yet there I was, listening to it whether I wanted to or not.

I heard Rolf Harris on Today (btw I did not know he was of Welsh stock! ) and it stuck inside my head for most of the morning. Most annoying. And then you frantically try and replace it with something - anything!! I then saw Mort's post about Mary Hopkins, so Rolf Harris was replaced by "Didn't we have a luvverly time the day we went to Bangor" Arrghh!

Just for you, Ants <evil cackle> Well that's you off the Christmas Card list Moderator Morticiaa!! I'd only got rid of it! Strange how connections go. Rolf Harris (Welsh parentage) Mort mentions Mary Hopkin (Welsh) Brain says "We must have silly song about Wales" I suppose it could have been "Taking a Trip down to Abergavenny"

If you are easily earwormed, look away now. Peter's theme from Peter and the Wolf. It'll get in there, cuddle up in your grey matter, pour itself a beer and settle down for a week, sometimes.

There is, of course, the problem of being prone to earworminess without actually hearing the piece in question. Wolf? What wolf? La la la la la la ....

Cannot hear you, fingers in ears, as Mort says La la la la la la Here, Handel's Semele, full of heaving bosoms, keeps the Wolf from the door. La la la la la la la

For some reason, '...the day we went to Bangor' has just clicked an internal switch and Tommo's internal Hi-Fi is now spinning "The Girl from Ipanema", in a Stan Getz/Joao Gilberto version.
Is there something wrong with me?

For some reason, ''...The girl from Ipanema'' has just clicked an internal switch and martle's internal Hi-Fi is now spinning ''Magic Moments''. This has got to stop.
