However, the song which has been playing in my head constantly for the last couple of days has been "Jollity Farm". I guess that's just the kind of guy I am.

martle's internal Hi-Fi is now spinning ''Magic Moments''.

This has got to stop.

Well at least that's evicted Mary Hopkin, martle.  But mention of ''Magic Moments'' always reminds me of a colleague who regularly sang a mildly obscene parody beginning "I'll never forget the smell of your sweat from under your armpits".  So MH has now sung her last 'Goodbye', pro tem, but the travesty of the Bacharach song is now resident in my head!

There's a farm called Misery, but of that we'll have none
Because we know of one
That's always lots of fun (Ha ha!)
And this one's name is Jollity; believe me, folks, it's great
For everything sings out to us as we go through the gate -

All the little pigs, they grunt and howl
The cats miaow
The dogs bow-wow
Everybody makes a row
Down on Jollity Farm

One of the bassoon's finest moments in pop music, alongside, er... "Tears of a Clown" and, er...

"Winchester Cathedral"?

I've for some time wanted to say that but seemingly had insufficient courage to do so! Ah, well...

Strictly come composing, then, maybe...

For some reason, '...the day we went to Bangor' has just clicked an internal switch and Tommo's internal Hi-Fi is now spinning "The Girl from Ipanema", in a Stan Getz/Joao Gilberto version.

For some reason, ''...The girl from Ipanema'' has just clicked an internal switch and martle's internal Hi-Fi is now spinning ''Magic Moments''.

This has got to stop.

Ages ago, on a R4 comedy show they did a version of "The girl from Ipanema" which ran slightly different with the 4th line being "touch her and i'll smash your face in" and it was entitled "The girl from Ipanema's boyfriend"   Grin

Still "Jollity Farm" over here, for the second day. Maybe I should put some loud CDs on (and NOT that particular one, which has been beckoning to me from the shelf but I'm NOT PUTTING IT ON). Tomorrow morning the letting agents are coming around to do their thrice-yearly "homecheck" so I have hours of cleaning and tidying to do today. First I shall clear the front porch of cobwebs.

(all the little birds go tweet, tweet, tweet / The lambs all bleat / And shake their feet / Everything’s a perfect treat / Down on Jollity Farm)

Hmmm. I see that this thread has a fiendishly cunning 'Get-your-own-back' function built in, hitherto undetected by me.
