ohhhh... I wasn't aware I was entering a competition, I thought the correct answers would just come up when I clicked on "submit"... well, it's done now. My ignorance will be displayed for all to see.

Well it's not a competition really, just a bit of fun. You can always submit another entry later  Smiley

I will only reveal scores of people who wish so  Wink

Dearie me. Six of them I'm fine with and two of the others I reckon I know the composer but can't nail down the piece.

Bother.

I shall persist! Smiley

JW - Great game thanks.

But very frustrating!  Angry

I'm sure I have many answers wrong, even for works which I now I have heard loads before!  (Just which number was that concerto.....?)  But as you can submit again, you can have my first stab...

yikes!  That's a pretty serious challenge, John W.  There are only 2-3 I'm fairly confident of; there are another 3-4 where I'm reasonably sure I'm at least in more or less the right ballpark (does that Americanism translate?), though I'm not really willing to venture a real guess; the rest ...?  Crap.  I have no idea.  And, short of being quite certain about a ca. 20-30 yr window and w/ also some general certainty about geographical origins, I honestly don't have the slightest damn clue about composer/piece.  But I'm having fun trying.

Nowadays Americanisms don't generally need to...  Lips sealed

JW,
Before I have another stab, how do we check our answers or scores?  Is there some sort of leaderboard on your site?
I appreciate itla not long since I posted, but this quiz has me itching to find out the answers!

Thanks

Hi,

When people submit entries I receive an e-mail at home. With these sort of quizzes I've normally waited (about a week) for all the entries and then published the scores.

Since folks here are keen to take their time and might 'have another go' (and not many are participating anyway) what I'll do is send a PM (in this forum's facility) to each entrant indicating correct answers and incorrect ones.

I suppose you could then all 'compare notes' and have a bit of fun helping each other.

John W

Many thanks for your message and the analysis of my test paper.  Oh dear.  When I was a kid, I could recognise loads of works in no time...  What has happened?

I shall now retire to the bottom of the class.  (But I'll have another go later when I get home.......)

Thanks for a brilliant quiz

I'll tell you what's happened. The first quiz was scoffed at for being too easy, at a ClassicFM level, so this one had to be harder  Smiley

Actually I have to say that any of these works could be heard on CFM's evening concert, indeed two of the concertos were recently broadcast.

Many of the pieces are just recent favourites that I've played in the car loads last year. A year ago my score would have been about 50%. Two or three are old favourites which I took off vinyl recently (crackle crackle).

Yes, many thanks! I'll try to spot where I have gone wrong and see the error of my ways...

Actually 2 of the works I got wrong are works I have played before. Sad

Still, first signs of Alzheimer's at age 227 isn't bad.
