Chafers,

The good news is that I got to hear your two snatches.  As they are wav files, my iriverplus launched them.

The bad news is that after the second, IE decided to crash.

Ron, the code was 0xc0000005

Tommo

Maybe an obvious question Tommo - but why not ditch IE altogether and use Firefox instead? IE has done nothing for me at all except cause endless irritation and inconvenience.

Before I can locate that code, Tommo, I'd agree that the latest version of IE seems to be the cause of many problems, and that a change, even as an experiment, might be a worthwhile option.

Remark the lower lip - it is of a form once termed "sensuous" is not it?
I wouldn't know. I'm from the abs generation.

And also what are known, or so I understand from a guided tour of the night clubs of Brighton recently, as 'disco-pecs'?

Martle's the man if you want to paint the town green on a Friday night in the louche night-spots of Brighton & Hove. (Such very strange changing rooms in some of the establishments. So unlike the Harpenden Rotary Club cribbage evenings with which I am more familiar.)

You don't remember this bit though, George, do you. 'S ok, I paid off the local press. Your Rotary Club membership is safe.

Yikes! You're right, martle. Did that really happen? It all became a strangely undifferentiated green blur after that exuberant Hokey Cokey in 'Trunks' Slipper Baths.

Mind you I've started getting dizzy spells in the Rotary Club these days too.

What's Peter doing with his hand, martle??

Oh, sorry, I forgot for a minute, she's not actually alive, is she ...

...hes?!

Well, on the very rare occasions that it does crash, at least it has the intelligence when restarted to spring into action immediately and actually resume the session from which it crashed (without the need to start all over again with bookmarks and favourites!). It is also much more intelligent in permitting the user to have complete control over cookies and pop-ups. It is also far far less vulnerable to invasion from adware and trojans. (IE is a positive danger in this respect to the machine.)

Right, I am now viewing this through Firfox. Oh, I see it doesn't correct my sticky e key.  Firefox, anyway.  I'm rather impressed so far.

Now to try the downloads.

The piece was left unfinished by Janacek - I think you can hear that. But apparently he considered it nearly finished (it was begun in late 1923) and this "critical realization" of the score was prepared by Leos Faltus and Milos Stedron in 1985. It contains only Janacek's text, and the use of viola d'amore, coloratura soprano and chordal timpani writing were specified by Janacek. It still sounds pretty weird in places though!

Thanks to Stuart for those Janacek downloads; I'm listening to it now.
Also, thanks to Chafing Dish for the Malipiero which sounds an intriguing piece. Well done, autoharp, for spotting it!

Now, as to Puzzle 11 - as wonderful as it is racking up the points as each quarter of an hour passes, it is permitted to allow clues?!  Undecided

Right, well Firefox doesn't crash, but the sendspace thing still gets stuck.  Ollie's puzzle 7 got stuck at 41% (53 of 120something).

I managed Dishy's No.2 again (martle! STOPPPIT NOW!)
