Since we do not know Mr. Thompson's beautiful 517 and 518, here are puzzle 519 (also here), puzzle 520 (also here), puzzle 521 (also here), puzzle 522 (also here), and puzzle 523 (which may also be found here). They are all either easy or of medium difficulty, except perhaps for number 521, and we think two or three Members will be familiar even with that.

Puzzle 517 in SS or RSPuzzle 518 in SS or RSBoth Beautiful in their own ways Tommo As we are passed 10 hours, here are some clues. 517 - think about the ethnicity of the music, and bear in mind that I am astonished some of you think it is English! Member Powell should be able to help you with this one..... 518 - a son of Austria, organist-composer..... Tommo

Sorry, No. The clarinet sound and turn of phrase really gives a clue to the ethnic origins of this music, which are reflected in the title of the work. And A - perhaps I don't really think of Delius as English.... (By paperwork, maybe, but in spirit...? Then, that's a whole other thread in the offing.) Tommo

For 518 I'll have a punt at somewhere in the nether regions of Bruckner's 8th symphony.

521 reminds us rather of the Barraqué Concerto.

523 sounds as though it could only be Schoenberg but which one? We shall try the Third Quartet.
