Tony, your hints lead me to try a stab at Prokofiev's On the bonfire for 161 and a stab at Prokofiev's On the bonfire for 162 as well just for the heck of it...

Prokofiev wrote Winter Bonfires...could 161 and 162 be that?

161 is nothing to do with bonfires.

I'd just written this reply when I noticed that IGI had posted in the meantime. He's right for 162. Whether Ollie should get any credit I'll leave it to the esteemed moderator, although technically he wasn't quite right with the title.

161 sounds as if it could be Prokofiev's Cinderella. Any good?

Cinders is not going to the ball on this occasion. It's not dancing music.

Hmm probably the wrong piece but equivocation be damned!
It's Messiaen's La Transfiguration (d'ya want stigmata with that?)

What is? Oh, Puzzle 163 you mean? No I am afraid you have quite the wrong decade there. You are on the right track though, but that that is only to be expected. Come back with another try.

Is 163 Messiaen's St François d'Assise then?

Incorrect. I know I said hh had the wrong decade, but it is clearly not a mature a work as S. François d'Assise. Come on Ollie. You know better than that, surely? Try going back to a decade which came earlier than the one hh plumped for. Wink

Correct, Ollie. I have just checked, and it was issued on CD, by Jade, a few years ago. Same performers as the Radio 3 live concert broadcast* the clip was taken from.

* Remember them?

Hourrah !

I didn't think it sounded like a Messiaen piece I know and I thought I knew the mainstream ones so I'm rather glad it's that...
