The weather forecast for this weekend is grim. Heavy rain and gales. They're quite often incorrect about us because we lie in a bay here and sometimes escape the worst excesses. Today is not going to be one of those times unfortunately. Blowing a gale, dark, gloomy and raining intermittently at the moment. The dog's ears will be flapping in the wind when we venture forth and bravely advance into the elements, before returning with eyes, ears, noses and mouths full of sand. Would somebody just explain to me why I keep owning large, energetic dogs that need so much exercise? Ok, I know. Severe brain/logic defect.

Come to Mid-Sussex Milly! lovely sunshine here. A bit cold but well with that circular yellow thingy hanging up there in the sky, makes all the difference. A heavy frost last night as well.

Then she got another golden retriever, in case the first one died. Then the first one did die, and she is now getting another golden retriever, and so on, no doubt ad infinitum. Every day she has to exercise two large energetic dogs, whatever the weather. She seems to have a deep fear of running out of golden retrievers . Dog people are just weird, Mills It's raining here , but at least I'm not out with two dogs.

Rather blustery here. Haven't ventured out of bed yet, but will do shortly.

Glorious here; I must get the leaf-blower out and clear some leaves, before the wind gets up and blows down ... more leaves.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

I think that the weather here has come straight off the sea for the last couple of days. Reminds me of childhood holidays to Brighton in the Autumn half term. I found it quite strange to get this sort of weather living where I did, and as far from the sea as I did, in Durham.

Ho Andy, This may help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_flash (although you've probably already googled it anyway!). It's basically the effect of light being bent as it passes through the atmosphere at sunset.

Gloriously sunny in York today - just as well as my Aunt and Uncle and assorted friends of theirs who i've now seen for years are in York for a long weekend. We're meeting them later for tea at Betty's!

Gloriously sunny in White Rose country! Hmm! Well in Red Rose country, it is raining, dark, gloomy and blowing a gale. Sometimes life just isn't fair.
