This picture gives little idea of the actual conditions: But what about that chappie standing there trying to warm his hands in his pockets? How's he going to catch the ball?

We've had a gorgeous sunny morning, birds tweeting their little socks off, the first bee of the year bumbled into the house and required a good deal of persuasion to buzz off. Then the Heavenly SFX Department swung into action and hurled down ferocious rain and hail. Now the thunder is grumbling around a slate grey sky.

The slate-grey sky has reached us in Victoria. A serious deluge appears to be in prospect ...

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

Same here a little while ago. About 12.30. It appeared from nowhere.
Snorbens - Highgate - Victoria. There's a pattern developing. Watch out East Croydon.

In Paddington, the rain has now abated. Nothing more than a mere dribble in comparison to the onslaught of 30 mins ago. Oooh, a rumble of thunder as I type that.....
From my 8th floor vantage point I can see that to the North West it is now clear. Mort, you are on the edge of darkness (metaphorically as well as physically?). And Ally Pally is in deep trouble.....

Typical april weather. Unpredictable. Lovely day to start with, then the usual clouding over, and then, the deluge!!

Make-you-jump thunder here too! Followed by prolonged torrential hail, only small stones but rather a lot of them! Then sunshine. Then rain. Now sunny again. As my daughter's just said with a sigh, "You just can't trust this weather!" We're all off school, on strike.

I've just had the same experience. I tried telling it nicely that it really wouldn't be happy in the house, but it didn't seem to understand......it was the size of a mouse.

It's been absolutely gorgeous all day here in Millyland. Lovely, sunny and warm, not a dark cloud in the sky. The children are playing out in the garden after school. Long may it last!

Ah, sounds as though it was a cousin of the one that bumbled in here today. It was HUGE With an extremely loud bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Still, no bees, rain or thunder now. Blue sky, fluffy clouds and sunshine. Well, not fluffy sunshine, obviously ...
