No, Andy, I don't know how. I have all the software and I am watching videos on this computer. It saved some clips, but I don't know how to get to them. I can imagine how that baby rhino is so beautiful.

It is a disappointment for now. May be I can watch it later. It will cheer me up. I went to accompany in the morning. They wanted me to play with them without rehearsal. The first run in front of examiner. I came at 10 and the child said he is better to play by himself on a violin (grade 3). They had no music for piano. I left. After they called me again. So I am running (driving) back and front the whole day. I don't need to do that, just feel bad for children. Now the last one is at 2.45.
This board and rhino keep me cheerful, God bless you all.

Horray, I am prolific in something, finally. I am prolific, I am prolific.

I feel a little ashamed, but so what. Fetch smileys now.

Congrats t-p !

But it was the 10,000 nd message not number 1,000. Otherwise you would have been responsible for 80% of the posts on here  Grin

Here's to many more.

t-p, how very strange not to rehearse with the children before the exam. I have done lots of accompanying for exams and I have always had at least 2 rehearsals. As for not having the piano accompaniment at a grade 3 violin exam... that is ridiculous! part of the point of the exam is to see that they can play in performance with the piano part !! crazy!!

Hope you are ok..?  Grin

This was the weirdest thing I ever done so far, A. Play with someone for exam withough even going once before hand. Needles that children don't know when to come in etc. I am glad it is over.

On the other note I am closing in on that 1000 post and I think I am going to be first to cross the line with it.

t-p,

I won't need to tell you when you've reached 1000 personal posts - all your stars will start spinning round and flashing red green and bue.............

By the way, 846 posts in 8 days 3 hours and 51 minutes.....  that's a little over 13 minutes per post.  Come on now, Chop Chop!  It'll take you a day and 9 hours to get your 1000.

(I have 336 posts in 2 days 14 hours and 56 minutes, so that's a post every 11 minutes.  Ha ha ha - faster than you!  But might take me a little longer to get to 1000!)

I've just had an email asking me to give an 'emergency tutorial' either tomorrow at 9:30am, tomorrow at 5pm, or on Saturday at 2pm.
Needles to say, I chose tomorrow at 9:30. This is the second time this student's made me get up early.
Time to make packed lunch and head for bed.

What kind of "emergency" are you supposed to advise on? The proper procedure for recovering one's dignity from the coils of a Sousaphone? A five-step program to replenish the beer content of the fridge when a flatmate entertains? A self-assembling essay kit for use after unavoidably missing a whole term of lectures?

I guess it was 'I don't need to do any work to pass this exam - realisation that this isn't true' sort of emergency tutorial ..?

Have fun

Well it was a 'I've just realised that I was asleep during the tutorials in which I was taught how to use this software' emergency.
In the end it didn't need me to give a lot of time and it meant that I was in the dept nice and early to do some work.
Next week holds my final orchestration marking assignment; three seminars: one on Nono and Stockhausen, one on one of Richard's pieces, and a final one on Schenkerian graphs in Sibelius (the software); and two lectures: one on Ferneyhough's In Nomine, and one on Minimalism and Stockhausen's Formulas.
Ping pong tonight.

You are way too kind Harmonyharmony.  If it had been me I would have done the "this button is marked Help, click here and engage small grey cells that got you into this institution in the first place... that's if you still have any that have not mutated due to excess alcohol intake..." spiel.

Today's students simply don't know they have been born.   Roll Eyes

I am listening to some very loud "Ring" extracts by Haitink and will then do another session of violin.  Handel violin sonatas and my Mozart and I really should do my upbow on-string staccato exercise.
