May be this is not the best Mandala. It is not bad if you isolate it from the next picture. May be you like darker colors. Is this one better for you? I think it is very good to center yourself, but it is better by itself without words. I just learn new word because of thread. It was played on Performance at 7 oclock. Look at thread on performance called body mandala.

Also there is Rachel Clarke's sonata for viola and piano that I want to learn. They say it is a good piece. I wish you learn it.
Hi t-p, I enjoyed your pictures today! Is it not Rebecca Clark sonata for viola and piano? she was a very good viola player and wrote quite a bit for the instrument I believe... lovely sound!! A

Ho! It's been pretty cold today with snow on the tops but not much sticking down below. Hail and sleet has also been about. I think I'll stay in tomorrow and pamper myself. Wooden hill calls. Cheers and goodnight

Good morning everybody, It is bright and crispy this morning. I think there is less wind. It feels like spring, there are more light (at 7 in the morning it is already light).

Last night we read Chekhov's Uncle Vanya at the play reading group which I go to - mainly because it is on at Birmingham Rep soon. The version we were reading was pretty awful, adapted by an American from someone else's translation and it was full of linguistic errors and anachronisms such as the word "deadbeat". Also I've never seen so many typos in a published book. I'm sure Bryony Lavery's adaptation which the Rep are using is better. I haven't laughed so much for some time - it was hilarious, although I'm pretty sure not intentionally, since you don't usually get many laughs in Chekhov. But once we'd stopped being able to take it seriously, it turned into almost a farce. Not one of his best, I'd venture to say. Anyone know the play? (Ooops, talking of typos, just noticed that my spelling of Chekhov - now corrected - departed from the norm - how embarrassing )

i don't. i studied 'The Cherry Orchard' for A-levels, and have, naturally, developed a major aversion to Chekov.

Being bored is your own fault, Lord Byron.
Engage your brain and think of something different to do.

Not one of his best, I'd venture to say. Blimey! I think we might have to agree to differ in the friendliest possible way over that. It's surely one of Chekhov's 'big four' and there are few groups of plays on this earth that come within hailing distance of that select company. I don't know about 'best' at that exalted level but I think it is almost my 'favourite' Chekhov, a slightly different thing I suppose. My devotion to the man (obviously one of the perks of not studying him for A-level ) had me sitting through four hours of Platonov on Sunday, in Russian, and I don't speak a single word. Very good though. (The Maly Theatre Company. I'm sure Reiner will have seen this production on its home ground in St Petersburg.) Bit of a stiff neck afterwards though after playing vertical Wimbledon for all that time constantly shifting gaze between stage and surtitles which were rather too high up for comfort.

You all have my admiration for reading and going to such length to understand Chekov. I don't think his plays are funny, but some of short stories are very funny. I have to say that I forgot a lot of his plays and I am not good in plays generally speaking. A lot of Chekov is very nostalgic. I would like to know what Reiner is thinking about Chekov.
Also your social life is so interesting with going to theaters, participating in reading. I am here hardly have time for my practising and teaching. I promise to try to keep up with the board activities.

I am very fast, Ollie, but I am not good. I have limitations in intellectual department. I just came from the shop and I am resting by working my fingers on a keyboard. I am listening to COTW Dame Elizabeth 'Betty' Maconchy. I am trying to make some sense of her music.
