Indeed S`wave. Just what my wise old great-great grand papa used to say. Before he had to join the Foreign Legion. Tragic really. I blame it one the bustles.

That is positively wicked. You bad, bad boy. Join Richard in the corner. With lemons Thing is, when we got to the harmonica bit he just sailed straight through it while we were all giggling away far too much to maintain our usual, er, purity of tone. Even the conductor was tittering. And that was Kagel. After the gig we asked him if he'd noticed anything. His response was 'eventually I knew you'd done something but at first I just thought the pianist had breathed into it'...

T-p,
Now you as one of the fonts of wisdom (or is that an oyster, as you have so many pearls?) should really know better.....
I've been worried about the allure of this forum since someone said they only have decent conversations on line now, and none face to face. We might all like to remember that 'real' life is what we make it, and there is little to stop us talking like this off the boards with other people we know as well.
Cheers
Tommo

I think one worrying sign is when you're talking to someone face to face and you miss the smileys... I like the idea of an Oyster of Wisdom. I think this phrase belongs in general usage.

Morning all ! Who`s been hit by the vile weather we have been promised? t-p, re The Other Place, I wouldn`t worry about getting modded. I suspect that they will close the whole thread because it`s completely off-topic. In the past I`ve had more than 3 moddings, but wasn`t prevented from posting. When Anna and I were banned for life from the MBs that was because we had written about Toad Twizzlers and hedgehog flavoured Hula Hoops. A far more serious offence. Oh, and there might have been something about a Rabbit called Roger.......

I think one worrying sign is when you're talking to someone face to face and you miss the smileys... I have found it invaluable always to carry a set of smileys for those awkward social occasions when one is obliged to meet other people face to face. All you need is some cardboard from a cereal packet (but do ask cook first), some sticky-back plastic (Sellotape is by far the best, all the others are crap) and a number of small sticks (you should be able to get these from your local stick shop for just a few pence). Here are a few someone else made earlier,

Ollie and Tommo: But we did find, did we not, that meeting face to face was at least as enjoyable, and in a different way, to this kind of contact - it's not as if we all met at a pub and then pulled out our laptops to get online...

I was thinking of growing garlic this year. Does anyone know if I`m too late for planting? The idea of raspberries is tempting too, but think I may have left it a bit late. I love raspberries!!! Yummm.
Should be OK to plant garlic now (if you can clear away the snow first) but don't leave it much later. Get a variety bred for this country. If you sow garlic from the supermarket, you'll probably find it's too cold for it here. EG http://www.marshalls-seeds.co.uk/?PAGEID=20671&ctl_cat_Code=M22109PS It's just started snowing in Brum.

Good morning dear MorticiaaaAAA Wodger Wabbit had a habit, I’m eager to discuss. He altered things a bit too much And caused a mighty fuss. “Topics are things I love”, said he, “And with them you are stuck, So, if you go off-topic The Mods will run amuck.” “If you want to talk of music To other places you should go. I just love my little topics It’s my real kink you know.”
