martle - I've always wanted a rotating star. Thanks!
A - no worries. Band was probably better than an evening slaving over a hot keyboard.......
HH - Now the low 300s are actually some of my favourite numbers.......

I've made a few advances in number tonight. Maybe there's (no) hope for me yet. Going to check on my newly baked loaf (is it cool enough to go in a bag?) and then I'll go to bed. Might pick out something to listen to before dropping off though...
Here's the second attempt. Colour isn't brilliant, but it smells good! Eating toast with chocolate spread and marmite (no... not together...) just about to put some music on and slip into bed. Dufay: Je vous pris/Ma trés douce ami
Lovely.
Now put on Les douleurs, dont me sens tel somme. Also lovely. I think that Dufay is fab.
Kitty sent me the waffle archive by email today. Sigh. Happy days. Night all.

what happened with duckweed and lesbian marsupials? I will of course need translation. I never caught up what they were talking about beeing slow witted. I understood with bins though. That brings me to soundwave. He said he will be away for a while. I hope he has a good time and will be back soon. I am always impressed with his keen perseption about music as well as about life. I am glad he has special purple bin.
I have nostalgia of my own. They played Alabiev Nightingale today. I thought I will cry with nostalgia, but the arrangement was so strange that my nostalgia was gone. Off with the old and in with the new, no nostalgia, no regrets. There is natural progression of life.
hh, nice bread.

T-p,
I caught a little of the Nightingale. I thought Nathalie Dessailly's voice and control was something else - but I'd really like to know which arrangements you would recommend.

I like piano version of Alab'ev's Nightingale. This song (Romance) was not sang very often. I think it is very difficult because it is very high. I never heard orchestral version before. Natalie Dessay, soprano was very good. I love high voices very much. Her Russian was also very impressive. The coloraturas were not the way they were done in my time. It was good performance. I don't think it was authentic. It is nice of Rob Cowan to play those things. Nezhdanova was considered the best singer who sang this song. Of course she was before my time. I don't even know if there are recordings of her. She was thought of as Russian Nightingale. I don't know if she was on international level. I never heard nightingale and i don't think I heard one. It looks a little like sparrow, nothing to look at, but nice.

what happened with duckweed and lesbian marsupials? It's a bit of a long story really t-p, but briefly one of us after saying something rather silly said 'ducks behind sofa' meaning... I am a bit ashamed for that so I'll hide... it was taken to mean that there are ducks behind the sofa. Then of course we had to feed the ducks ( duckweed) We had a gate that ollie played ... hence the hooon sound that it made, S'Wave played the spoons .... when we had parties at ollie's or S'Wave's house....etc The lesbian marsupials were part of the wonderful stories ( film scripts) that mainly Anna ( sadly not joined us on this board) and Mort used to write... they were wonderful , they included camels, waffles, jellies, Ron the Berserker... and all sorts of wonderful characters. That was the first waffle thread that I had the privilege to start ... not knowing how it would take off!!! Hope that explains it a bit

Well, if nobody minds, I thought that it's probably going to be possible to make the archive more available somewhere at least. Is that OK Kitty?

I don't mind at all. If anybody with a bit more tech-savvy than me can put it somewhere accessible to all who might be interested, it would be nice to know that it will be freely available.

I was hoping that we'd be able to reunite the splintered fragments of our former fellowship... Glad to be here though, and with you all.
