How did these bassoons sound? Did you like the sound? I like bassoon. There are versatile. They can sound funny because they have sense of humour. In one of Rachmaninoff concertos I never knew what instrument was playing. It turn out to be bassoons in high register.

In this case I can say that I associate recorder with baroque music played on period instruments. The instruments there looks strange and remind me walking sticks for helping people with limps. They looks very modern to me. How did you like them? You posted the programme somewhere, if I can find it. Did you enjoy the concert? Did they make many sqeacks? Were computers involved in the consert?

Those are slightly unusual Andy, the ones I usually see look more rounded. I have played with the Manchester Recorder orchestra ( solo violin ) and they have the full range. The sound they make is quite beautiful. No squeaks t-p, only little darlings squeak on recorder!! A

I know a few people who use those Paetzold recorders, including one friend and colleague who plays one that's been converted into an electronic instrument - http://www.cevill.com/NewFiles/e-recorder.html

Been at work putting the second movement of the final piece in my portfolio onto Sibelius tonight. Haven't really got very far with it - fiddly piano part (sigh). I wish that I was somewhere else tonight...

Just to say goodnight, all. Such a crazily busy day, and so many good, interesting posts with so little time to respond to them! Where is the time? Where is the energy? Why do I have to have eight hours on the pillow or else face certain humiliation/ failure/ irritability/ petulance the following day?

A quick translation for people reading the back pages tomorrow.....
"Brave Scotland" = They were facing Italy and never had a chance "Wales are better than Engand" = er, San Marino scored a really quick goal against England once "NI were so much better than Sweden" = Larson wasn't playing "RoI won against strong opposition" = Slovakia foul a lot "England missed a host of chances" = "England's players are so overpaid they have addled their brains with drink, parties, sex, drugs and rock-and-roll to such an extent that they couldn't hit a barn door with an elephant gun if it was 3 foot away"

How did you guess? Actually, that would involve sleeping on a lilo on the floor, and I'm still a little bit tender from all the gardening on Monday (my grand gardening achievement today was collecting all the rotten apples on the back lawn), so I'd rather that someone else was here I suppose. Tomorrow I will attempt to change banks. Again.
