Is Argentina known for something else beside bugs (creepy crawlers). I can think of tango, football, what else?

OK, I am now going to listen for the first time to "Peter Grimes". I may be gone some time.

It's pretty hard not to laugh at the 'Sandwich Pig' section near the beginning of the later opera, in which about eight sandwiches are consumed in a couple of minutes, when one, er, brings other knowledge to bear upon the work

Hmm. I haven't actually started yet though, something keeps holding me back. As for the big guy, I did in fact copy rather a lot of the orchestral parts for Wild Things, back in the days when such things were handmade, so I have a fair idea of what it's like (which, strangely, has never led to the slightest motivation to hear it). I just thought I ought to do something about my almost total ignorance of Britten's work.

(which, strangely, has never led to the slightest motivation to hear it) I think it's rather good, actually (not that that should necessarily make you want to hear it, either). It's sort of the right size, if you see what I mean - not a miniature (unlike a lot of OK's other music), feels properly weighty but not too, ahem, big either. Ian, calm down

...........total ignorance of Britten's work.

Yes, I don't have a particular fondness for cats, but this is a bit cruel! Somehow, knocking cyclists off a cliff is a lot more fun, requiring greater skill too... aaagh! IGI, you are the king of these games; consistantly scoring higher than me! grrr....
