Bobby,

Brooke Bond cards were the first things I ever collected (circa 1962) but I hated putting them in the albums, always preferred to have a set wrapped in a rubber band. Loved the British Wildlife ones, but we never saw half the animals in our part of Scotland and I used to pretend I'd seen a weasel, and I liked the tropical birds best, loved the birds of paradise with huge red pouches for mouths!

I got hooked on the smell of tea when collecting the cards. The tea used to come in a little rectangular green packet/bag and I always loved the smell of tea as I struggled to get my fingers down the side to fish out the card. Near our school there was a tuck shop that did a swap service, the old lady had an elaborate wall board with slots for each card and you could hand over a double and get one you needed.

I miss being a kid, it was much more fun then than for the gameboy kids of today. But, like today, I do remember there being pervy men then, we used to throw stones at them!  Cheesy

John

Yes, the smell of tea...you don't get that from tea bags in anything like the same way. Very democratic the cards, a peregrine falcon was no more valuable than a robin.

The first tea cards I can remember collecting were astronomical, I even had an album to stick them all in, which I did. This is card no 50, though since I don't recognize it, it's probably the one card in the set that you never got - either that or it's so long ago that I've forgotten. My parents threw out all this sort of thing so I'll never find my album now.

Sorry this has nothing to do with twitching

Hi Mort

I am nice Costa Rican Elephant Beetle, I be soon in your neighborhood. I don't know about you anything, but I want it very much. It would be fine if we could meet, to do friendship or more than simply friendship. I will be happy if you also have a free time and we could meet soon.

I don't know about your plans at present time, but I sincerely hope that we can have meeting with you in the near future. You can write all that you want. Ask any questions which interest you. I hope that you understand my English Smiley I began to study English approximately 1,5 year ago. Write to me back and I will tell more about myself and send my photos.

Please, write to me back and send your pic on my regular e-mail: carlostheelephantbeetle@googlemail.com

Have a good day,
