It is about two centimetres long by one wide, and is quite often more or less indistinguishable from the surrounding stubble, since I tend to shave about twice a week normally.
*That's enough from you, Thompson.
Lord Abertawe, the size of mans beard is immaterial, but what's that in inches then Bach? A man who monitors his beard in centimetres is, I think, a true European. Alas, the rest of us cannot adjust to the Euro let alone hirsute centimetres. Well I suspect that an impostor has taken of Lord Abertawe's identity. I find it difficult to believe that someone with a scientific training as extensive as Lord Abertawe's would deal in such non-SI sub-units as centimetres.

Ron, I am not disputing the rules on here, and as I've said on the thread, I understand why some of those who are not public figures in the music world are afraid of stalkers. That said, I'm sure many wouldn't be so ready to offer their views in public if they knew that anyone could google their name and find them - that's what I maintain is cowardly. My issue is with why so many people, here and elsewhere, cannot actually put their name to their opinions, and have to hide behind pseudonyms. And I'm far from alone in thinking that. It's something that devalues all internet forums.

Oof! You know how to cut a man to the quick do you not. Antheil, it is less than one inch long. There, I've said it.

Well, quite frankly Ian, I suggest you desist in posting to all Internet Forums if you feel that strongly about it. Of course, you can continue posting to the dating/sex fora anonymously (as you admit you do)

Perhaps one shouldn't drink because the activity is devalued by those who drink and drive, and sometime cause deaths as a result (as happened to a friend of mine), Antheil?

Ian,
That is a very strange comparison to a message board, you may like to expand on this. But, it's late, some of us have to get up in the morning at 6.30am.

Ian, if you are indicating that people that people who post under pseudonyms are comparable with drunken drivers and cause as much damage, then I now think you are way out of order here. While that may have been your experience on another forum,(perhaps there was not adequate supervision?) and I am very sorry if that was the case, please don't tar all posters on all Forums with the same brush. Can we please not let this thread veer so off-course as happened with the thread that spawned this one?

The issue in question that Baz was raising was to do with coloured immigrants - I do not engage with intelligent people who express such views; I think you may find that baz was saying there are a lot of immigrants around where we live. That is a fact not even a comment. A

I can't manage a beard. I end up with side-burns a lot (not a term I'm much fond of). "Oh to be able to grow a beard!", I think "wouldn't that be a fine thing."

Don't worry, increp, it's overrated. And the care you have to take over it easily equals that which is needed when shaving. (or is this retrospective justification for having shaved it off back in 1994?)

No, I'm not saying that, I'm responding to Antheil's comment that if one dislikes certain internet practices, then one shouldn't post on the internet, by invoking a much more serious parallel. If one can dislike the behaviour of many drinkers and still drink, then one can certainly still post on the internet even if one doesn't think much of certain common practices there.
