I like both photos, but I agree that B appears to be the clearer picture, and I would think that was the more expensive camera...?

You can all pride yourselves on your powers of observation: yes, the bottom picture was indeed the one taken with the SLR. But if the two weren't in such close proximity, then I'm sure most people would be pretty happy with the top one as it stood. I hope this helps to show it's as much about choosing the right position and the right moment as using a great camera. A great musician is far more likely to be able to achieve an outstanding performance on a so-so instrument than a useless player on a fine one.

Indeed, Ron. I must say I had to sweat over the choice even so. (I prefer the composition of A, I think.) An "outstanding performance" as ever.

Thankyou, r: that will become a regular location as the seasons change, so expect to become very used to the lie of the landscape betweem Whigstreet and Carrot Hill.

Wasn't the project abandoned after the EU declared that a European Carrot Mountain would be superfluous to requirements, or something?

No carrots, but a pine forest with red squirrels, and wonderful views across Strathmore to the distant Cairngorms. Here's a tiny look back towards where I've been taking the other pictures from - it's at the extreme right, near the white farmhouse a little less than halfway up.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

MabelJane....that has made me cry for joy. I am so unhappy about some rubbish in my life, at the moment, but that clip has cheered me no end!
Thankyou.

Is this a cause for minor celebration?

Why have a minor celebration if we can have a MAJOR one ? If you wish to augment the scale of proceedings, you will not see me complaining.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley
