Ho!.  I've been down at my brother's home for several days.  He gave me a CD of the "Comedy Harmonists" and, returning home yesterday, I spent a relaxing evening as I listened to it twice.  A happy CD with a great deal of talent on it.
Cheers

I had absolutely the best day at work today!  I met some truly amazing patients, had some wonderful conversations with them and we laughed quite a lot as well.  Dang, I LOVE my job !!

Fantastic stuff.

Well, I'd been feeling low all week.

It was partly to do with coming off my Proms adrenaline high with a crash instead of a gradual tailing off, as a number of people upset me at the Last Night and I hated every minute of it.  And partly to do with a small catalogue of domestic annoyances, foremost of which being the failure of my loo cistern and the failure of a plumber to turn up to fix it.

And then I turned the tellybox on last night and caught the tail end of the Proms highlights programme about this years' youth orchestras.  I ended up dancing round my living room in a Venezuela jacket in time to one of the SBYOV's encores Grin

And tonight I'm off to see Albert Herring, which is always a tonic.

I was so annoyed I didn't realise (until too late) that Proms prog was on.

Tell us all about Albert Herring! It's had good reviews.

Will do, Mary - there's a thread in The Opera House about the upcoming performances (as they were when the thread was started) so will give a run-down on there.

My mum's a Britten nut and hasn't seen AH before.  So I'm taking her.

Usually, yes.  Her only failing that I can think of, in terms of musical taste, is that she seems unable to tell the difference between a good countertenor and a bad one.

As long as they're singing something she likes, and are not noticeably out of tune, she thinks they're marvellous.

Fortunately we don't have any countertenors this evening...

One of the things that makes me most happy/grumpy is getting the proofs through when I've written a magazine article - happy if it's been edited well, grumpy if not! The other thing is that that's usually the moment when I see the page numbers for the first time and find out how prominent/unprominent it is ...

I wrote my first article for Tempo magazine in July. Just got the proofs by email in the last hour or so and it's been made the lead article. Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

Excellent news.  Does this mean that they'll choose the cover to relate to it?
