I've entered into the spirit of the thing by not shaving my feet this morning. That feels enough somehow.

Conversation in the garden this morning just before 10 am on hearing Hindemith on Radio 3...
Him 'What a cacophonous noise' Her 'Would you like me to turn it off?' Him 'No it's not unpleasant hearing people doing their nuts in the distance'
.... well it made me laugh anyway!!!

The seasons change, colours mature. Harvest is past; and not just in the fields, either. Since my first picture was taken from this spot, all the pines to the left of the road climbing Carrot Hill have been felled, and that part of the ridge is starting to look as open as it must have done before industrialised forestry. Can't let that one pass unnoticed, Morticia. What do you call a viola when buried in the garden? (I assume the answer is "a start" )

I've just enjoyed a plate of filberts a la Morticia for lunch. Yum, yum. Absolutely delicious! There are some left for tomorrow but not as many as I had intended. They are very just-one-more-ish. So...filberty. Still no success on the wet walnut front despite scouring all the likely places in St Albans over the weekend. This may require foraging further afield.
