For those of you who haven't seen MrYorick's post over at M&S, this has been making me very happy: Schumann - "Ich grolle nicht" Gerald Moore, voice Victoria de los Angeles, piano http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y47pyTfSrCQ

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Ron, that`s a beaut. I can almost feel the texture of those leaves etched against the sky. And that deep black of the branches set against the blue ... another Dough triumph!

Magnificent, Ron. Thank you for that. I can however report that I have already experienced being caught out in my first snowstorm this year when up (and then rapidly down) Beinn a' Bragaidh, Sutherland last week. And 'orribly cold and stingy it was too. That'll learn me. Here it is, but this is sadly not my photo. Have since returned to my winter feeding grounds in the south - where it's not that much warmer come to think of it.

How extraordinary that anybody remembers the Tripods themselves ...

Actually, Sydney, in common with the vast majority of my pictures, that one was taken with a hand-held camera....

Happy me...I've been worried that I haven't seen my friendly neighbourhood Barn Owl since just over a year ago, when it was having a head-to-head with a Buzzard, then yesterday evening about 16.45 I had the most wonderful sighting in my garden, watched it feeding and hunting for over 20 mins. At one point it soared right past me, and was only about 4ft above my head ! Best sighting EVER! and great because there was still enough light to see it properly. x Jan x

Quite a few years ago I had this lovely German Shepherd Dog. My parents lived right out in the sticks, it was lovely taking my dog out for long walks there, complete escpaism, both of us enjoyed those walks. One occaison that really sticks out in my m ind was when I fully grown Stag came out of nowhere, looked at us and ran off. Both me and my GSD were quite surprised. A wonderful exp[erience in hindsight though!! My dog's name was Dorcus.

"Tell Jarvis, Dorcas is willing." A phrase that has stuck in my head. Was it Great Expectations? Anyway, I have great expectations of a right royal punch up in EastEnders, followed by an alcoholic nurse trying to strangle someone in Holby whilst I eat my cauliflower cheese. Ho Hum. What better way to spend a freezing Tuesday evening half way up a mountain And I certainly know one of our Members will be doing likewise ....
