(4) Got spirited away to another pub by two other cast members. Pub didn't kick us out till well after it should have done, and had a lengthy and highly enlightening gossip session as a result Ooh, tell us more!

I can't be too specific or I'll get into trouble and people will stop telling me stuff! Though I did find out (a) that ENO already has a new production of a certain well-known opera in the pipeline, despite the existing production being quite recent and rather fabulous ; (b) who's really singing the top notes on a certain crossover artist's albums (c) the interesting circumstances in which a certain other crossover artist's career began

Awww thanks Jan! That's just made me doubly happy! In fact last night's gossip session took place in exactly the same corner of the same pub

I guess I pick up my ideas for the composition and framing of shots from whatever seems to work, inko: since that Friedrich painting is new to me, there must be a common ancestor!

I seem to remember taking a view like that from Inverewe Gardens, many years ago. Wonderful place to visit but we had to spray ourselves with anti-midge stuff, they were swarming all over us!

It's a gorgeous place, MJ, though I know exactly what you mean about the midges (the lack of which is one of the advantages of living in the East).

My teenage son, off school with a bug, has just put some nice guitar music on his iTunes for me - one of his Foo Fighters tracks which is, uncharacteristically, just 2 acoustic guitars - Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners. Much nicer than all that noisy stuff he usually plays!

Much nicer than all that noisy stuff he usually plays! I've got a Foo Fighters double CD - In Your Honor - which I ripped off from my brother, to see what it was like, as he kept talking about them. The first disc is noisy and the 2nd is acoustic as far as I remember. Haven't listened to them very much, certainly not recently, and I took the precaution of burning them to CDRWs at the time since I didn't think I'd want to keep them - but they're still there!

It's Friday. Good!
My sentiments exactly Jonathan. I've had a rotten day, it's been raining since late afternoon, I left work and immediately my brolly got blown inside out during a squally downpour, we are promised gales, possble floods, plagues of locusts probably as well, but IT'S FRIDAY AND I DON'T HAVE TO GET UP IN THE MORNING. Yippee Also there is beef stronganoff for dinner!
